I remember that 03 tornado.
Bill Self had been introduced as coach just a week or two prior.
USA was playing Mexico in the first rematch since USA knocked them out in the World Cup the year prior.

Sirens came on. One of our friends lived in the Aberdeen apartments. Her car had been pushed through her garage.

Microburst was 06.
Was living on Mass Street, storm came through and completely tore up a giant tree near our yard.
Watched the B12 Julian Wright 360 dunk Championship v Texas at Vermont St BBQ with their windows busted out and a generator running.

Not surprising given how it was a freaking mile wide.

size isn’t really what informs the fujita scale...it’s destructiveness from wind speeds

Sort of. You won't see a mile wide F2, but you can see a small F5 (Andover).

I lied. Officially 1/2 mile wide, ran for 46 miles and had wind speeds of 268mph

With no lives lost from an F4 ‘nado is certainly surprising and a blessing.

Give credit to KC meteorologists. They gave everyone a good warning about an hour before the tornadoes hit the towns. Without that advanced of a heads up, some lives could have been lost.

Was definitely a lot of good luck involved this time. I had some family that were pretty close to the path, but it weakened by the time it reached their area.

It seems, generally, that the tornado seemed to be at the height of its powers when it was in the least populated areas in its path. Very lucky indeed.

Does humidity count for 'severe weather' because it has been in full force the last couple of days.

Yeah, hate it when it's this muggy and humid. Mowed last night, took longer to pull my soaked t-shirt off than it took to mow the yard.
