No one voted for Edith in 2020, and no one will vote for her this year either.

It IS about Trump...but not JUST about Trump.
This is a haiku. It's meaning is that the rubepublican party's issues aren't just trumpty dumpty, and won't go away with trumpty dumpy, the party is rotten to the core. They have courted the white supremacist and homophobic and religious fascist and authoritarian and conspiracy nut vote for so long that it is no longer a legit conservative party. It is just the party of fuckwit now.

I will keep saying this: the risk the Republicans are about to take is enormous. That risk is probably going to become a top news item soon.
Rosenberg: Trump is underperforming now in 4 states, he’s spending more money than he’s taking in, his party is broke, they’re replacing leadership, dozens of party leaders indicted, House Republicans are abandoning ship, he’s getting crushed in court.. I would much rather be us

McConnell stepping down as Senate's Republican leader in Nov.

How will things in the party not get worse?

He wasn't exactly the glue holding things together. He was more the dam holding action back. If they can replace him with someone who wants Congress to do their job then it will be an improvement but I have low expectations. If they replace him with some MAGA mouthpiece then yes, it will get worse.

Per the US Constitution, their job is to create and pass into law federal legislation that addresses issues in our nation, something that has ground to a halt under McConnell and even more in this current House of Rep term.

"What is their purpose" is a fundamentally different question than "what is their job". While the sing song verse of these is quite fascinating as a read, much of it really doesn't answer your simple question at all. But they are quite interesting. In another life, I'd love to attend a class taught by someone who has extensively studied these and hear them speak to them.

I have neither the time nor the knowledge to provide an in-depth, adequate answer to that.

Do you feel that it will be a good thing for a MAGAfied R Senator to be the conference's leader?

I think McConnell is/was a mixed bag.

On the negative side, his resistance to anything that could, theoretically, have threatened the power he and his clique had accumulated -- both from the Left of the GOP (McCain) and from the Right (Cruz) -- did much to radicalize the base over the last 20 years. Someone more attuned to GOP voters' frustrations might have defused some of the MAGA fury.

Also, you're not gonna get a Hawley or a Vance as the leader, so I think the risk of drastic MAGAfication is probably overblown.

I haven't bothered looking at betting markets, but - Cotton's got to have a great shot, right? I do not consider that to be, in substance, non-MAGAfied.

South Dakota Sen. John Thune is the #2 behind McConnell followed by Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso. Both hold leadership roles now. Texas Sen. John Cornyn is also mentioned in most lists of those most likely to replace McConnell. Cotton is full blown MAGA so I doubt he could garner enough support.

There is a crisis in America. There is only one man who can stop the Biden Crime Family from destroying our country and stop the persecution of conservatives. You know it, I know it and Lara trump nose it.

DC, You Must Act Now If We Are To Save Our Country! I ask this most humbly.

Please send $50,000 or $100,000 or $100,000,000; whatever your can afford to the RNC. Lara will be a good and faithful custodian of the money. She will make sure that it is spent where it is most needed and can do the most good for the Grand Old Rube Party. No one holds conservative values more closely to their cold dark heart than Lara. Her kids say the pledge of allegiance every night before bed for fucks sake.

Oh.....and fuck Mitt Romney.

I pledge allegiance to the Fraud of the United States of Merica
and to the Rubepublic for which it stands
one nation ruled by Don
divisible, with impunity and vengeance for the pure of blood
