The United States has purchased 2 times the number of vaccines than we need. God Bless America.

Is that because around half of the population is refusing to take it?

300 million doses purchased

adult population (18+) in US is at least 250 million

something doesn’t add up

(but who knows, since mich doesn’t like to provide sources for most of his claims)

Plus remember that two doses are required for most people vaccinated so far. The J&J vaccine has only been around for a few weeks

just got onto the county site to find a vaccination appointment (it opened 7 minutes ago)

your number in line: 13964
number of users in line ahead of you: 1357

guess it could be worse

I'm told that if I show up to Hy-Vee around 6:20 on any given day, there's a better than 50/50 chance they'll have excess and go ahead and stab me.

I think we are in this odd stage in Missouri where a lot of things are going on with expressly eligible people. Perhaps: 1. unsure if they are eligible or not, 2. know they are eligible and don't want to get it, 3. just assume there are no appointments, or 4. don't have access/don't know how to manage the appointment system which is mostly online.

Meanwhile, the pharmacies are doing the right thing and sticking whoever shows up instead of risking the loss of doses.

Big box chains are certainly in the 'we don't care who you are we have shots to give and we need to use them mode'.
Got my first Pfz last week in Topeka at a HyVee and all they asked me was my name and birthdate. Tech said she uploaded 200 doses and it filled in two hours. That was surprising, at least to me that didn't move faster which is a good thing that those who want it are able to get it.

In Missouri the HyVee's are giving the vaccine at the pharmacy. They opened up 200 plus spots at the one on Barry Road in KC last night and I got my first shot today. You make a reservation on line and then just show up and show them your ID and an insurance card.
I saw the worst minds of my generation empowered by madness, bloated farcical naked,
dragging themselves through the whitewashed streets at dawn looking for a grievance fix.

Congrats man. They are opening NY up to 50 plus tomorrow, hopefully to everyone in the next 10 days. Getting my second shot at 7:30 am. I didn't think this one through since probably going to be up to 1 am watching the game tonight.
