Trustee wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:07 am Yeah, I’d like to see that too. Maybe I can put it together later this week. Those transfers would certainly seem to speak to their inability to contribute immediately, but it tells you much less about who they’d be at year 4. But you only get 13 spots: there is an immediacy.

Andrew White wound up with a decent career. So did Doyle and, I believe, Quintrell. Zach unfortunately got KO’d by KY, but also seemed to be slipping down the ranks as he approached college, then wound up with health problems. Merv and Rio probably weren’t going to contribute in years 4 or 5 at KU.

I don’t think every 3 star will be Devonte, and I certainly don’t mind having 5 star McDs on the roster. But I do like experience. And my gut says that the staff’s evaluation of lower ranked players has been pretty great the last several years.

Sorry for the essay. DC HATES THIS POST

Trustee wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2019 8:08 am Excluding walk-ons and transfers—because it’s pretty obvious that that’s not who Randy was talking about—changes that list significantly.
I'd like to see a list of the non Top-50 guys that have transferred out of the program or are asked to leave the program. We probably average 1 per year.

To me, that is more damning of those level of recruits than the Mitch Lightfoot and Landen Lucas types.

We've had some weird ones. Royce Woolridge, Issac McBride, Merv Lindsey, Zach Peters, even Andrew White and on and on.
Kids get so excited that a program like Kansas offers them that they start thinking they are actually good enough to play a bunch. Then the go to Lawrence, play pick up with the guys who will play a bunch and realize they made a horrible mistake.

Well I find it odd that we offered a guy that not only was not good enough to play at KU, he ended up not good enough to play anywhere, really.

But, I looked him up and did not realize he was in a serious car accident that may have changed his career.

One thing is for sure, he's doing better in his chosen career path than he would be if he tried basketball.

Braeden Anderson is now a lawyer for a firm in NYC.

He's simultaneously a poster boy for both sides of the argument about the student athlete.

“The benefit that you’re getting, the reason that schools are able to make 'millions' off of you, is because you’re getting an education. You better be actually taking advantage of that education. That’s what you’re getting paid with!”

Smart dude.

Well, that's some JFish/CnB opinion piece commentary.
I cut that out because it has no bearing on what Braeden thinks.
Only what Rob Dauster thinks.

And Rob Dauster exclusively eats boneless wings.

I guess Braeden missed the class on adhesion contracts in his 1L year.

clearly walk ons or even transfers were not who i meant. let me revise your list cascadia:

Dok
Vick
Graham
Svi
Mason
Lucas
*Perry Ellis
Traylor
Withey (transfer but was here 4 years)
Johnson
Releford
Taylor
Morningstar
Reed
Collins
Case
Jackson
Kaun
Robinson
Langford
Lee
Miles
Simien
Nash

pretty fucking good list of players. some all americans. final fours. national championship. we need 4 year players. almost every single 4 year scholarship player ended up a starter and damn good player. thanks for proving my point

but i agree with you. we need these kind of players too:

Chalmers
Rush
Wright
Arthur
Aldrich
Morris
Morris
Robinson
McLemore
Wiggins
Selden
Embiid
Oubre
Jackson

but you failed to mention the ones from this list that had the most success were the ones who were playing with good seniors.

look back at the the early years of the players on this list. was a struggle. embiid wiggins oubre never had the luxury of group of upperclassman (4 year guys) and they were some of the worst teams in Self's tenure at Kansas

Most of those guys were top 50 type recruits. That's the argument here.

The outliers are obviously Frank, D'Tae and Ty Taylor.

Outside of those jackpots, your best case scenario for a non top-50 guy is a Landen Lucas, Mitch Lightfoot, Jamari Traylor, Tyrel Reed, Brady Morningstar type. We bitched about those guys a lot when they were here.

And I’m going to take a hard pass on

Nash
Lee
Case
Reed
Morningstar
Traylor
Lucas
Vick

That’s 33% of your list.

And, as has been pointed out, that list doesn’t include the sizable number of Top 50+ recruits who left the program early
