What is Santa bringing everyone this year?

It’s going to be a fun day at Casa de Doyel.

My two boys 5yo (6 in January) and 1yo (2 in February) are stoked.

We got my 4yr and 8yr old one of those VR headset things...and a puppy last Friday. So we will be entertained for sure.

I wish everyone a merry Christmas, happy whatever else you may or may not celebrate, and hopefully a healthy and a good new year.

Now go fuck yourselves!

I'm in for a run of perfect Christmases.

My older kids are not just past Santa, they're past the "fifteen stupid-ass things" phase and into the "one to three kickass things" phase that's much more fun to shop for. It'll stay this way for a few years, until the fun wanes and the "gifts" will be practical because they're starting lives.

This is the first Christmas where the youngest will really get Santa and all that, and it'll crest next year and the year after until a slow fade into the worst age (post-Santa, pre-cool-shit).

I feel like I've gained 50 lbs in less than 24 hours.

Crazy day here. Our almost 2yo went wild. His favorite gift was the mini Husqvarna toy leaf blower. 😂

We got my 5yo a Loog mini guitar. Pretty cool if you haven’t checked those out. He already wrote and performed his first song “Have a good ol’ time in the woods”. 🤷‍♂️ 😆

I got myself a Countercade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mainly to play with my boys. Nostalgia. Cool as hell though! I might have to get the NBA Jam version now. *as my wife rolls her eyes*

Very blessed here. No complaints.

Hope all is well with my fellow Jayhawks. Merry Christmas to all!

Fun!

I almost asked Santa for (bought myself) a new guitar, but then decided I need to just practice the guitar I got.

The snow finally let up. More on the way tomorrow. Roads better on the way home tonight, but still lots of wrecks, and cars off the road. Texted Japhy a pic of a snow plow that slid off the road and flipped over.

Now finally home. Enjoying an old fashioned and a fat bowl of, uh, Christmas trees. At last, able to relax.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!

My daughter got me this thing. I'm looking forward to playing with it.
Ate way too much. Homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

Chicken breast stuffed with cream cheese, bacon, scallions and stuff served with twice baked spuds and steamed broccoli. Also made the Cornucopia's herb onion bread to go along with it.

soooo

Does anyone else kinda get bummed out by getting gifts?

As silly as that sounds.

It’s just so rare that a gift is actually anything you want. Maybe my issue is so few people in my life who simply ask, what would you like for Christmas ous?

Or maybe it’s that I usually declined to request any gift if anyone does ask.

This season, I was a little more lax, and just played ball about gifts. I even got something for everyone in my immediate family.

But then, everybody else just gets me shit. And that’s all it is - shit! And I try to like it and everything.

Then I feel guilty about not liking it. Mostly cuz my mom is telling me how ungrateful I am. Like yeah, I don’t feel grateful that I’m now burdened with taking a bunch of shit I never asked for and don’t like straight to goodwill.

Like I feel rotten. Far more so than just politely declining to participate in this bullshit consumer spectacle. Going back to Scrooge status next holiday.
