I'd still put Miles, Langford and Simien up v this team and expect an even series.

But yeah, he was busted, Russ was a deer in the headlights, Giddens was standing around the 3 point line waiting for the game to end so he could go to the moon bar, and Christian Moody was starting.
Yeah, I'm misremembering (drunk freshman)--may have been after the Kansas State game. Essentially stated that only thing that mattered was he finished the game and his career through injury. He's admitted plenty since then that he was done with Bill at the time.

That was the season Russ was relegated to the bench for the season for refusing to go in. Giddens was a lotto pick to start season and didn't seem to do a damn thing all offseason because of it. I remember our fans booed when he got subbed back in late in a game. Moon Bar right after showed he was not in a good spot. Weird ending.

My last Giddens memory was watching the 2008 draft, hoping Mario would squeeze into the first, when the final pick of the round went to JR.

Hard to compare that way. Different era, and Bill's a better and more versatile coach now. The '05 team would have a real hard time keeping up with all of the defensive ball switching that today's game requires.

My point here is how the team's entered the tournament, and the '05 team was in disrepair. This team doesn't look that way.

They'd win 4 of 7 imo.

This sounds like more of an insult than it is. But this is the worst team we've had that didn't have roster issues (injuries, players leaving, players checking out, etc).

The good news is, they're peaking at the right time. I just have a hard time getting too excited, because that peak seems limited in height so to speak.

This team's demise is probably going to be super boring and related to the offensive lulls. Like, getting down a good 8 points early, only to have it balloon to 15+. We will then claw it back to single digits only to fizzle out from lack of energy and not having an AA guard to bring us all the way home.

The peak, though, might be something like a VCU run where we make everything we put up for 3 games and then get exposed in the Final Four.

Well, Silvio god booted at a bad time, but it was always an unknown how much he’d really contribute.

At the very least, he woulda been a lot better 5 off the bench than Mitch.

i think the ceiling for this team doesn’t seem as high, and the floor either feels lower than normal or it’s just that we’ve seen too much of that floor already

And yeah, this team is moving the ball a lot better, and at least getting open looks.

If and when those looks start falling, we just might be able to make a run.

All I know is, thank the lord we didn’t have to go into that 2018 tourney with our only frontcourt depth being Mitch.

He averaged 4.8 ppg and 5.4 rpg that tourney.

And that was the best he played at KU.

yep, he got 10 rebounds that game.

And then never made another meaningful contribution to the team.

Ever.

And prior to that he had a decent game against WVU in the conference title game.

You're giving a guy a lotta credit for being our 6th best player in an Elite 8 game against Dook and looking good against WVU.

Unless Colorado State wins the Mountain West Tournament, I believe there is little to no chance they make the tournament over Dook.
