Fickell would be insane to take that job.

I read somewhere that Frost buyout was 14 million but it dropped to 7 million on Oct 1st.

If you can't wait till Oct 1st then he should have been fired right after that onside kick. I'm talking AD coming out of the stands and telling Frost not sure how you getting home but you not getting on our plane....LOL

First name on Bruce Feldmen's list:

Lance Leipold, Kansas head coach

How about a candidate with Cornhusker roots and strong ties around the state? He was a Nebraska assistant from 2001-03, sandwiched around a decade at Nebraska-Omaha. That was before Leipold got his first head coaching job. At Wisconsin-Whitewater, he built a powerhouse, winning six Division III national titles and going 109-6. From there he went to Buffalo and elevated that program into one that was in the Top 25 by the time he left. He should’ve been hired away sooner, but ADs were hesitant perhaps because of his small-school history. Vanderbilt was very impressed with him two years ago but hired alum Clark Lea. Kansas hired Leipold, 58, and that proved very smart.

He inherited a huge mess in Lawrence in the wake of the Les Miles tenure but the team showed a lot of improvement despite going 2-10 in his first season. They Jayhawks beat Texas in Austin and lost the next two games by just a field goal apiece against West Virginia and TCU. This year, they’ve opened 2-0 and are coming off a nice road win over West Virginia, which was a two-touchdown favorite.

His teams play very hard, are well-organized and always prepared. This guy wins everywhere. Leipold’s buyout at Kansas is only $5 million; it drops to $4 million in mid-December. In any event, that’s very manageable for Nebraska.

Kansas would do well to match or best any offer. Consistency is priceless just now

Although the thought of it coming to fruition sucks, being worried about whether someone else wants your coach is finally a good problem to have for KU football.

Yea but jeez, how much would that suck?
Surely he's got to give us a couple seasons?
Please?

This is just my read on the Leipold-Nebraska situation. Seems like the consensus is he would absolutely take the job if it were offered to him. Makes sense. Can't really blame him. It would suck but it is what it is. The hurdle is getting to the point where Nebraska would need to offer him. At least 3-4 other candidates would need to tell them no. Guys like Urban Meyer, Matt Rhule, Matt Campbell, probably even Dave Aranda. Then they might come looking for Lance.

If he were offered, absolutely, I think it is very likely he would take it.

I'm not sure why so much of KU twitter is having a hard time admitting that.

I agree. I think we can at least make peace with that. But it's not time to panic because they need to get a little ways down their list before he gets offered.

Yep, we are so far away from needing to worry about UNL offering Leipold and it probably won't happen, but it's drumming up clicks and follows for a few people (cough, Vernon).

Plus, Leipold's going to do what he's going to do regardless of us. I'm glad he's ours right now.

We need to hope someone else gets hired at Nebraska and gets their shit together...bc Lance's background has Nebraska all over it.

No doubt. If they get publicly turned 2 or 3 times, then it'll be time to get nervous.

I expect UNL's ego will get in the way again.

Leipold would be the right hire for their circumstances. Klieman would be good too. Neither sexy enough.

2 things are true.

1. Leipold will take the job if offered. Who wouldn't?

2. I think Leipold is going to be, at best, the 5th option Nebraska is going to go for. Campbell, Kleiman, Rhule, Fickell, and Mark Stoops should all get calls before Leipold.

With UNL being in the B1G, they aren't going to have 4 guys say "no thanks."

The only major drawback of the job is the delusional admin and fans. Fired after 9 wins, my gosh.
