Today in "so much winning"!
Re: Today in "so much winning"!
The President "ordering" US companies to change their business practices.
Just another day under the Trump regime. Which one of his sons becomes King after he dies?

Hey, watch what you say about the "Let Business Be Business", "Small Government", "Stop Picking Losers and Winners", "Free Market", "Free Enterprise", Party!
How can Trump not realize that it's an indictment of him when he constantly criticizes people like the Attorney General, FBI Director, chair of the Federal Reserve, Sec. of State, etc., etc., who he appointed? It's beyond stupid.

Seemed kind of appropriate for today and for those who attended a Kansas university.

I've had CNBC on in the background most of the day 5 days a week for a lot of years. I've never felt that Josh Brown, one of my favorite stock market talking heads, was a "liberal". But over time, even he can't help but speak his mind.

He's not American and he's not being arrested.
Not saying it's right - just saying that you don't make sense
Re: Today in "so much winning"!
Folks are quick to share stories about educational institutions coming down hard on people for sharing conservative viewpoints so I assumed that those folks would be equally disturbed by people being removed from education institutions for simply being friends with someone who merely shared their viewpoint. Apparently I was wrong.

I think I have been pretty consistent in hoping that the Right's selective outrage could be more consistently applied.

I care about some stuff. I don’t care about other stuff. I certainly don’t care about some nerd that did not get into his school of choice. I really really don’t care if the student involved is from Palestine.
Re: Today in "so much winning"!
I have dealt with AMIDEAST in the recent past. They are a Fulbright type group that has been working on higher ed educational exchanges for a long time.
I would think that a govt official wanting to make a petty argument would choose a kid attending some tiny school and not one with the brand and resources like Harvard U.
My opinions are based on the assumption that the student’s version of events is accurate and complete.

Re: Today in "so much winning"!
The thing is, this nerd already got screened and interviewed when given his US student visa. BEFORE he uprooted his life to attend college in the US.
Since there is no longer a US Consulate in Jerusalem, he arranged for open-ended travel outside his country to meet with US officials.
Harvard would not have just accepted him willy-nilly. He earned his spot and Harvard WANTS him.

Re: Today in "so much winning"!
Every time the US makes headlines like this, the best and brightest around the world decide to NOT BOTHER to apply to US colleges and universities. Who wants to risk losing a year and a lot of money when there is any chance at all that a US official is going to unjustly shame them and turn them away. They are, instead, going to apply to Canada, UK, China and other places where great educations can be had.
Knowing this, if you cannot see the detrimental effects this will have in the long term on the United States of America, I cannot help you.
