Well, the crooked Supreme Court did rule that Corporations are people. Why are you surprised?

Maybe it needs to get really ridiculous before it’s fixed.

Couldn't one person just form a thousand different LLCs and then vote a thousand times?

It makes perfect sense.

It’s what happens when we establish systems that value capital more than people.

Heck, this entire country was founded upon the idea that the only folks who should be able to vote are white, male, property owners

yes, jiat be limited by time and money and resources to do so...

you know who could set up essentially infinite LLCs?

major corporations. They could have whole teams dedicated to doing nothing but creating LLCs all year long.

obviously that would be terrible for the voting implications but...would also clog up the system for legitimate small businesses....and most likely lead to changes to make it even harder to become a small business.

nearly everything we are doing in this country is discouraging small businesses and entrepreneurship that was so important to this countries growth

Our nation was founded on the fundamental belief that the needs and opinions of white male landowners matter more than those of the rest of the country so this line of thinking is consistent for the Constitutional fundamentalists out there.

the landowner clause was also there to ensure voters had a vested interest in the new country and weren't passing through or foreign agents

i almost posted this in response to the lab-grown meat discussion, but it’s just as apt here:

the history of the government-led industrialization of agriculture is both fascinating and sad
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

If they eliminate the 3-pt line in BB and instead, make dunking the ball worth 3 points, when the shorter, slower, "fundamentally sound", "hard working", lighter skinned guys who can't jump disappear from the court, don't blame the short, slow, "fundamentally sound", "hard woking" players.

Sadly, our election laws incentivize political candidates, on steroids, to attempt to raise lots and lots of $ to be competitive and have any chance to win. With only occasional exceptions, expecting candidates to avoid doing so under the current rules makes little to no sense, unless your goal isn't to win, but receive a participation trophy.

There is no substitute for winning.

I feel bad that I didn't mention Hillary as a potential presidential candidate in '24 earlier, and considering the competition, you have to wonder if she hasn't contemplated running as a 3rd party candidate, too:

That was a joke, i.e., "3rd party candidate"...

Apparently, this video was produced by a DeFascist supporter, and the DeFascist campaign is now promoting it as a hit against Trump:

.When pigeons come home to roost:

...something...something...lie down with dogs get fleas...

During a campaign event in Sioux City, Iowa, former Vice President Mike Pence was confronted by a voter who was unhappy with his actions on January 6, 2021. The voter asked Pence, "Do you ever second guess yourself," adding, "That was a constitutional right that you had to send those votes back to the states."

A smart thing for Pence to say would be that he respects the voter's opinion, but the Court's decision in Harper v. North Carolina confirms that his judgment was sound (in contrast to the judgment of the former President).
