Our win loss record, as well as our record of putting guys in the league, suggests we do a pretty good job of managing our non con schedule and player development.

Kenpom

1 Houston
2 Tennessee
3 UCLA
4 Purdue
5 Bama

10 Texas
11 Kansas
12 Baylor
14 West Virginia
17 TCU
19 Iowa State
26 ksu
29 OSU

36 UNC
37 Duke

56 Oklahoma
69 Texas Tech

I dunno about that WVU ranking but they sure could do us a solid if they took care of Iowa State in Morgantown tomorrow night.

Kenpom not a great resource for a league with so many good teams. The losses and uneven performances of the Big 12 seem to sink all boats a bit. WVU got a break at the bottom though.

It's actually exactly the opposite. Do we really think 8 of 10 Big 12 teams are Top 30 in the country? With the other 2 being at 56 and 69?

KenPom has the Big 12 as far and away the best conference in the country.

It does. But then it has walking wounded all stuck in the middle. But the 12 is by far the best.

This does kind of describe the Big 12 right now, particularly the walking wounded in the middle.

The only 2 teams you'd say that could still grab a 1 seed are UT and KU. KU is 3-4 in its last 7 and UT has been a mixed bag the last two weeks playing 4 Top 15ish teams. The rest feel like the same teams.

KU’s loosing streak has sucked, but at least it’s also been against top 15 teams, and mostly on the road. We have some top 15 wins sprinkled in there too.

And why KU hasn't dropped out of the AP Top 10.

The Big 12's wildcard is TCU. They were drilling teams before losing both Miles and Lampkin. Miles will be back, but if Lampkin also comes back healthy and rested, watch out for them in March.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

It just means that we didn't lose last week while teams ahead of us did.

I think it was probably the losing 4 of 5 that trumped the sweep of baylor....but...yknow....carry on. This sort of injustice would've never happened before 1983

I think that’s a bit low but I don’t think we are a top 10 team.
I wonder - and not in the "just asking questions" way; I genuinely wonder! - if the metrics adequately weigh strength of schedule on a cumulative basis.

I'm probably not doing a very good job articulating what I mean, but intuitively it would seem like not every x+1 instance in assembling a strength of schedule is equal. It would seem, fundamentally, like the models aren't really built for this crazy of a conference.
