You beat me to it. If there is a God and we are to believe the Bible, humans are probably one of God's worst creations.
I typically say dogs > humans but that's debatable depending on what you are comparing and considering. What's not debatable to me is that dogs as a whole - are great. Humans as a whole - are not so great.

Now all that being said, most dog owners are overrated. NOTHING wrong with loving your dog but a LOT wrong with the ways and methods and extremes many people love their dog/s.

Saying things are overrated is overrated by those who are not doing the overrating.
If I truly love something and say how great it is, why am I overrating it? Who gets to be the ultimate judge of what is and isn't overrated? Shouldn't it be the person doing the overrating?
