Fair point. Could be much more of a spell player in the 4-guard offense in the latter scenario. Still think he gives you more than Mitch or DMac in that scenario just because he moves and rebounds better. Let's get him ASAP, though.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 2:50 pm My reservations are based on the timing of this...which is unknown.
If the NCAA rules this week or next as was suggested, then great you get De Sousa back into the lineup ASAP. Mitch and Mac drop down on the depth chart, you play more two bigs (15 mpg or something)
But if it stretches out until sometime in Feb, then you try to integrate him, how does he play with Lawson, are there timing issues, are there spacing issues, does it impact team chemistry etc. Because we don't want to be tinkering with the rotation too late in the game.

A lawyer certainly did not write that comment.lobster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:00 pm Someone posted this comment:
"I encourage Silvio to hit the NCAA with a mega million $ suite if they fail immediate reinstatement. Case law, supported by global amateur practice, clearly shows he's likely to win. Off the top of my head, I can think of a dozen big name law firms that would take this case, pro-bono....on contingency, in a heartbeat."
Would he really have a case?

Is there a case or not, though? Like most legal questions, the answer is "possibly or maybe."
You have to look for irregular treatment or not following your own precedent. Of course, there is the ever-present issue that no one collectively bargained for these rules that govern people like De Sousa.
Also, when you sue someone, you do so for damages, which hopefully De Sousa won't have much of after he kills it in the NBA.

I didn't even know Silvio was strong enough to pick up a mega million dollar suite, much less wield it to hurt somebody.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:05 pmA lawyer certainly did not write that comment.lobster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:00 pm Someone posted this comment:

I've thought for a while that the national letter of intent system seems like a pretty soft target.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 4:26 pm Is there a case or not, though? Like most legal questions, the answer is "possibly or maybe."

I suppose damages are more difficult to prove when a dude is technically supposed to be an amateur all along.

Hopefully, he plays this year and soon. My guess is that his first game back will be at AFH.

He's either hearing something from KU or a lackey inside the NCAA or the NCAA's outside counsel.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 9:04 amProbably nothing....how could anyone make any sort of educated guess about what the ncaa will do? It's always so random.

If he is cleared at halftime, he will play in the second half.

Re: KU's DeSousa could be ruled ineligible...
yeah, his second game was @WVU last year, and that was about two weeks removed from his High school winter dance. He's been here long enough we shouldn't need to ease him in. Which is not to say he'll play well initially, but there's no need to bring him along slowly, in fact just the opposite, we gotta work out the kinks asap.
Also, WVU is so shitty, it'd probably be a relatively good game to bring him back for.

No matter how shitty they are, Morgantown is always a dangerous place to go into.
