Wow. Lose a game to another ranked team and out you go. Brutal.

It would be perfect revenge to come coach KU out of obscurity.

Crap, I got him confused with Mark Stoops.

Too many Stoops to keep track of.

Me, too. The fact that he held off on firing Beaty makes me think his HC candidate inquiries are not being met positively thus far.

that's kinda why i made the earlier comment about mid-season changes

i won't pretend to have a clue about how these things work, but it would seem that administrations would want to wait as long as possible before opening the door to distractions

jmo, but if stoops wasn't on whatever original list Long had, he shouldn't be on it now

edit: just realized it IS mid-season...time flies

Agreed. I think most of us would like to see Beaty's head on a platter today, just for the sake of retribution, but from Long's perspective, it looks much more attractive to a potential HC if the season finishes with minimal chaos. It would look even better if they actually managed to win one or two more games and showed some meaningful improvement. Won't be enough to save Beaty's job, but it will be more tantalizing to someone who isn't used to dealing with the level of FUBAR that has become the norm at KU Football.

My picture is in the dictionary under the entry for pessimist. It sure would be nice, though.

Just read on the dot com that Beaty's recruiting class for 2019 is now ONE after this weekend. Compare that to the rest of the Big 12's average of 16, with the next lowest total being KSU with EIGHT, and you get a better idea of just how ridiculously incompetent Beaty truly is.

Having gone through dealing with him and his staff personally with my older son's recruitment (which ended with him going to play for KSU instead), I can attest to what a miasma of incompetence, disorganization, and outright stupidity the program is right now.

at this point, the writing is kinda on the wall

who would commit to KU without knowing who is going to be at the helm next year?

And THAT is why a mid season fire/hire is not a bad idea.

I hate to be Debbie Downer here, but Stoops' record as a head coach is 41-50.

And he's 56.

Both are true.

To play devil's advocate 1) 41-50 would be a huge success at KU, and 2) I doubt we're going to get serious consideration from any super-successful Division 1 coaches.

The football fan base is so beaten down that they dream of mediocrity.
