David Koch died doing what he loved: watching the Amazon burn.

He was skeptical about anthropogenic global warming. He said a warmer planet would be good because "Earth will be able to support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food".[2] Koch considered himself a social liberal,[36] who supported women's right to choose,[37] gay rights, same-sex marriage and stem-cell research.[2][38] He opposed the war on drugs.[citation needed]

Just think if he put as much effort into social causes!

But, alas. Gummint is bad, climate change is a hoax, and elections should be bought...greeeat.

This is part climate change and rising sea levels. But, a major factor in this is the over extraction of groundwater which is destabilizing the already soft, swampy land that Jakarta is built on.

Agreed. New Orleans, Mexico City, Bangkok and the San Juaquin Valley in Cali are having similar issues.

Maybe this belongs in the other room, but it's the career civil servants who hold the future of our country and the world in their hands.

I just watched a NOVA program on Megafires (repeat airing from May, but just saw it) and one of the sponsors of the program was David H Koch Science Fund. A good portion of the program focused on how climate change is making megafires more frequent and more severe. The incongruity was very stark!!
