So, unless you're among "the highest-paid tier of workers", you shouldn't have kids.

Good to know.
I would argue if you cannot support them, don't have them. Poverty sucks for everyone.

@Dr. Pepper, I created it just for raising awareness of the hypocrisy and also humor of the current feminist movement. HD already answered the difference between 3rd wave and the original movement.

@Mjl, I actually wrote, "Have one of the parents stay home or work from home part time until the child is old enough for school." I didn't say it had to be the wife. It should be the one who makes less money.

Lemme guess, you're single.

HD already responded to most everything, but I did want to focus on this one area you asked me about. You're right, I am not in a position to tell anyone else what to do. I don't believe I made such a claim on here, as I'm just making my arguments and try to back them up with logical reasoning.

In regards to daycare, I think it's essential to avoid it if you can. Obviously, single parents need some help and some kind of daycare service is going to become necessary (this is one of the reasons why it's so important to try to marry a good partner, but I'm digressing). I think anytime you put your little one in arms of a stranger, all kinds of problems can happen. The child could bond with the workers, germs spread like wild fire in those places, abuse sometimes happens to the children, etc. I personally believe that daycare should be a last resort. I know a few people out here in Los Angeles where both parents work when the wife could easily survive off her husband's salary. I bite my tongue, but I feel sad for their children. If you want kids, then don't dump them in daycare. Have one of the parents stay home or work from home part time until the child is old enough for school.

BTW, I applaud you for adopting two children. That's really unselfish and I admire that a lot.
I disagree with the details on almost all of this, but to narrow it down to one thing - why do you say the woman should stay home? Why not the man?
Why are you framing this as if it is some sort of onerous chore or a form of insult to stay at home and raise the child you created? If you don't want to raise and care for kids, you probably shouldn't have them.

Lobster, I’m trying to figure out from this thread what you point(s) is. How are you defining 3rd wave feminism?
By now you've seen the posts from Psych and Count. So you understand that "third wave feminism" is essentially how misogynists view most women today.

Did anyone see that news that now California public companies must hire women on the board? I have nothing against women on the board, but forcing companies to do this is wrong.

If I understand you correctly, any couple that prefers a lifestyle that dual incomes can provide should not have children?

For what it's worth, this thread is mislabeled. The Third-Wave is long since over and was pretty clearly defined, intellectually. The hallmarks of the Third-Wave are an emphasis on prevention of violence against women, and especially the use of sexuality as the means of achieving, maintaining, and expanding power. The principal difference between the second and third waves was the advocacy of sexual liberation in all and even extreme forms and acceptance and promotion of pornography as power vs. the Andrea Dworkin school of sexuality, which labeled pornography (and sometimes sex itself) as akin to rape.

What has Lobster unhappy is more likely the Fourth Wave, which is still somewhat nebulous, but which focuses on sexual identity more than sexual liberation.

I think a lot of our culture’s problems can be attributed to children born into families where neither parent is interested in taking on the responsibility of raising them.

Is this issue separate from or on top of most women not having morals? You should also work on your grammar/spelling.

Can we please refrain from the "your spelling / grammar is wrong" sort of responses? I realize my own writing is imperfect, but it's neither here nor there in what we are discussing.

I'm aware there are super moms/dads out there that have been able to juggle having children and an intense career. However, they are the exception to the rule. They often have excellent health, require little sleep, own a very successful business, etc. The misleading claim that feminism tells women is that "you can have it all..." Well, that depends on a lot of variables.

I'm glad grammar and spelling children talk is what upsets you and not blanket BS from Psyche and the video you posted. Glad priorities are right we're they need to be!

Russia has morphed into the male version of Sea. Perpetually pissed and truculent with nothing substantive to say. Another lost cause.
