I think both Oubre and Selden have been better than Grimes and Grimes was more heralded.
He's not good against the weaker opponents.
He's not showing anything in the bigger moments.

There's still time but at some point you have to say, this is the player he is this year.

Can we trade grimes for that TT freshman who went crazy last night?

Per 247, Oubre was rated higher than Grimes

He was on his way to having his best or second best game of the year and then was just awful down the stretch.

Gotta keep going with him though.

Nobody since they played Thursday night...and he's a sophomore.

It was a joke. I'm sticking with Grimes. Especially since it's starting to look he could be a 2 or 3 year player instead of a 1 and done.

I doubt we’ll ever see 6-6 threes again.

But he actually made some good plays tonight. He actually played down the stretch instead of just looking like a lost puppy and getting pulled. He showed flashes of why he’s a top 10 recruit and still projected 1st rounder.

He’s just much more of a facilitator, it seems, and he got thrown into a “be a perimeter assassin!” kinda role pretty quick.

Not that he doesn’t have that in him too.

Yeah it’s pretty baked to cheer for a OaD talent to stay 2 or 3.

But, fuck it, pass that bong bro!

Where did I say I was cheering for him to stay?....hint: I didn't.

But he absolutely is in danger of strongly needing to consider staying in school to develop more. That's just reality.

All I'm saying is that if enduring a below expectations year from Grimes results in us getting another year of him then that's a good thing for our team next year.

As I said on Twitter, this team won’t reach their ceiling if Grimes doesn’t find himself.

I think Grimes gonna look a lot different after a winter break of nothing but hoops.

I think so too.

Don't think he's suddenly going to become a good shooter, but hopefully comfortable enough that we aren't doing freaking offense/defense substitutions with him and moore.

I'll hope for that.
I see flashes.
I think he ends up better than he is now, for sure, but will he end the season averaging double digits in points?

I dunno.
Seems like he's a 9.7 PPG, 43% FG kinda dude this year.

His flashes have come more as a facilitator than a shooter.

Other flashes include athleticism. He looks Dotson fast at times and also 6’5”

But I think he’s a good shooter too. He should keep shooting, but maybe avoid forcing guarded jumpers.

More than anything, dude needs to drive. Attack and create.

PhD gave a very good in depth analysis of why at times are wings struggle to drive downhill. Not sure which thread, but very well thought out....and when you watch games there appears to be a lot of truth to it.

Does Grimes lose his starting spot to MG with Dok back?

not starting spot, but minutes for sure depending on matchups

generally, is better defense from Garrett worth missing out on the potential offensive threat? i know Grimes isn’t quite the defender, but i don’t know that he is poor enough to make it worthwhile
