If I was super wealthy I would consider buying them. Why not? Well, there are a lot of reasons why not but considering I have a bunch of dusty game worn shoes ranging from Danny Manning's to James Harden's, I would like to add those to my collection.

On a related note....

This goes here, I suppose, and is just delightful.

The Basketball Star Who Got Elected Sheriff of Sin City

Before Purdue’s Zach Edey, there was Clyde Lovellette, the first basketball player ever to both play on an NCAA championship team and be the season’s leading scorer. And that’s just where he started.

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/p ... a-sheriff/
This is a story about politics. Honest. On Monday night, Purdue basketball player Zach Edey has a chance to become only the second player to be a season's leading scorer while also playing on the team that won the NCAA title. The only other player to achieve this double was Clyde Lovellette of Kansas in 1952, and Clyde has a story to him. Not only was he a great player in college and for several NBA teams—he ended up with the Celtics and won a couple of chips backing up Bill Russell—but he was a prototype: one of the first seven-footers to step out and hit midrange one-handers. (Johnny Most, the irascible radio voice of the Celtics, called him Wide Clyde.) Anyway, Clyde won championships at every level, including Olympic gold in Helsinki. Then he retired and, in 1966, found himself living down by Terre Haute in Vigo County, Indiana.

At the time, Terre Haute was notorious for being "Sin City"—pretty much an open town for public vice, especially gambling, and known throughout the country for the number and quality of its brothels. Life magazine said that the city had a "rubbery social conscience." There were a few of these backwater fleshpots scattered around the country. Phenix City, Alabama, was so notorious that it got a movie made about it. For its part, Terre Haute's recreational sin industry flourished as the local economy did. A brothel keeper named Edith Brown got famous for the opulence of her establishment. According to a local historian,
A visitor to the house from those days remembers that... It was a very dignified place—not bawdy. Everything was formal and the girls paraded in beautiful evening gowns. The house was attractively in a very formal, controlled setting and meticulously clean. Everything was orderly. It was a $5 house when others were $1. Drinks were $1 apiece and that was high in those days. On some Saturday nights, the house was formal. Men had to wear tuxedos and the girls were in evening gowns. Dinner and champagne were served, at a beautifully appointed table, and the cost was $25.
When he needed a break from the hurly-burly of the Chicago underworld, Al Capone would use Terre Haute as a place of respite and escape.

The city waxed prosperous on coal mining and manufacturing until the Crash hit in 1929. With a combination of serious labor unrest—in 1935, martial law was declared in response to a general strike—and the regular flooding of the Wabash River, the city staggered under the impact of economic disaster; the sin palaces of the West Side were about the only thriving local industry. They remained in continuous operation until well into the 1970s.

Even though it never got a movie, Terre Haute achieved national renown as a "Sin City." It drew New York magazine writers on brothel safaris. In 1961, The Saturday Evening Post wrote that "In shabby Terre Haute, progress is dead, vice is flourishing, and the citizens don't seem to care." A low-rent men's magazine called Stag came out to wallow. The mayor, a Jell-O-spined old fud named Leland Larrison, once went on local TV to refute the slander that he had promised during his campaign to close down the brothels.

Outraged that someone would traduce him in this way, the mayor took a firm stand in defense of gambling dens and whorehouses. As Time reported in 1969,
The mayor's firm stand in defense of vice raised a modest cheer from gamblers in the upstairs room at the Club Idaho on Hulman Street, and then they went back to their roulette and poker. A sign on the door read: WHAT YOU SEE, WHAT YOU HEAR, WHEN YOU LEAVE, LEAVE IT HERE.
In an oral history, cited in The Indianapolis Star, Larrison related how he and the brothel keepers had reached a modus viviendi.
"I told them very simply. I said: 'All I want you to do is run the house like it should be run. I don't want no problems down there. I don't want any criticism on my part. And don't get me no whiskey or anything at Christmastime.'"
A fella's gotta have standards.

(Larrison started out as a local druggist, and the ladies of the brothels bought a lot of cosmetics in his shop.)

Anyway, big old Clyde Lovellette decided he'd been called to clear the varmints out once and for all. (Clyde was silly for westerns and often dressed as a cowboy, even during his playing days.) With no experience in politics, and even less in law enforcement, he ran for sheriff of Vigo County and, probably due to pure name recognition, he won. Now he had a legitimate reason to dress like Wyatt Earp, and he did. In February of 1969, Sheriff Clyde made his move.

He raided 12 of the brothels.

The town erupted. Mayor Larrison called Lovellette's raid a political dirty trick. And when the officials at Indiana State University, which was becoming increasingly influential in Terre Haute, supported the raids, Mayor Larrison offered them a deal. He told Time magazine: "If the college will get rid of the beatniks, kooks and hippies over there, I'll shut down the houses." The university declined the offer. Meanwhile, nine women were put on trial. The Indianapolis Star reported that seven of the nine were clad in what the paper called "transparent bikinis." They all drew 15-day sentences. Nine months later, Sheriff Lovellette ran for reelection. He lost in a landslide.

So this is one reason why I'm rooting for the University of Connecticut on Monday night. I wouldn't want Clyde Lovellette to lose his unique place in basketball history. If he did, there would be no reason to tell the tale of his attempt to clean up Sin City. A fella's gotta have standards, after all.

Yes, and people were commenting about it last night when he looked to have re-injured his knee.
I said/asked about it in regards to Noah when he had his deal with Le Coq Sport - Why would you want to wear a shoe from a company that doesn't make Basketball shoes - regardless of how much they are paying you?
