Re: CrimScore
Larry Brown would watch Ben at practice in 2012 and gush about how he could have been one of KU's best players.
Re: CrimScore
I'd put em in the top half of Bill Self's squads here.
Tier 1: 2008, 2010.
Tier 2: 2011, 2016.
Tier 3: 2012, 2017, 2018.
Tier 4: 2007, 2013.
Tier 5: 2014, 2006, 2005, 2019, 2015, 2009.

You don't think Ben improved in his redshirt year?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:51 amAlmost none of this is true. The only true part is that Ben was not a top 10 ranked recruit but was a lotto pick.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:48 amthe Ben we saw his 2nd year was far from the Ben that we would have seen his freshman year. That's just common sense. He obviously improved a ton in his year off. He wasn't a top 10 recruit...and in 1 year made himself a lotto pick...Ben would have helped, he'd have likely been our 4th best player.
You think Ben was better than TRob, Ty, or Withey?...maybe I'm giving Withey too much credit and having trouble splitting junior and senior performance in my mind.....so okay, maybe Ben was 3rd best.
Re: CrimScore
It's amazing how this changes based on the argument.
I've seen people say they were 1 of the worst.
Re: CrimScore
Ben's screwy senior year of high school sent his ranking downward.

David McCormack has finished in the top 2 in the last 3 games.
Remind you of anyone who got a bit hot right before last years tourney?
( the NCAA sure knows the answer )

Re: CrimScore
I tweeted that out last night about halfway through that first half. Big Dave is coming on strong just like Silvio did last year.
Remember, Silvio was sped up and all over the place when he started playing. But by conference tournament play, he was a guy that you HAD to have in the game.
My favorite part about him is that he is a pretty strong guy and gives big time effort. Texas killed KU on the boards in the first 2 games, last night, KU outrebounded Texas by almost 10.
Nothing irks Self more than being outrebounded because a lot of rebounding is about effort. And Big Dave gives that effort and goes after EVERY ball.

Re: CrimScore
There were a few moments last night where I thought he was going to get the old 'you are a freshman so I'm going to blow my whistle for you on a close call for over the back' but he didn't.
He's got some fire in him too.
We need the appropriate amount of intimidation ( i'll stare you down after I dunk on you or block your shit out but just long enough to not get in trouble ).

Re: CrimScore
It sucks bc it means I’m spending too much time on this board, but last night when DMac was killing, I kept thinking about twocoach’s dumb ass.

Re: CrimScore
McCormack being a guy certainly improves my outlook for this team.pdub wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:20 am There were a few moments last night where I thought he was going to get the old 'you are a freshman so I'm going to blow my whistle for you on a close call for over the back' but he didn't.

But miss me with the "just long enough to not get in trouble" shit. We very badly need some swagger on this team.

Re: CrimScore
Agreed. But I don't think this team can afford to give up 2 points on FTs from a T, either.

Re: CrimScore
He didn't post that in early Jan when McCormack was struggling either. It was after a 12/5 game that came after an 18 pt 5 board game.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:49 am It sucks bc it means I’m spending too much time on this board, but last night when DMac was killing, I kept thinking about twocoach’s dumb ass.
