Fred fired from bulls
Re: Fred fired from bulls
He would be the #1 candidate for any job that comes open. So, no.

Who you think gets him?
Re: Fred fired from bulls
If UCLA is ready to move on from Alford, I could see that one happening.
Re: Fred fired from bulls
Hopefully UK or Dook.

I like Hoiberg.
I don't want him at UK or Duke.

I would just like a world where K and/or Cal were no longer coaching.

Re: Fred fired from bulls
The question is whether or not Hoiberg would have any interest in returning to college. He may be more interested in an NBA assistant job than the grind of recruiting, which he seemed to hate.
Re: Fred fired from bulls
Fred gave an interview a year or so ago that basically dwelled on how much he hates recruiting. I don't see him taking another college job, but rather another NBA front office job like the one he had with the Timberwolves before he went to ISU.

The ISU beat writer for the Des Moines Register just posted this article. It included (but dismissed) speculation he could end up at KU whenever Self leaves. Short term, maybe as an analyst for ESPN. He'd sure be an improvement over Dukie V!

Re: Fred fired from bulls
If you hate recruiting, KU isn't the place for you. Despite some enormous advantages, you still have a big geographic issue to overcome.
Re: Fred fired from bulls
Maybe.
My worthless thoughts.....
A) The guy may be a very good coach but I feel he's an overrated coach - college included.
B) The guy has a bad ticker. He has had multiple serious issues and procedures. I'm not sure I want to hire a guy who is a known health risk.
C) There is a reason why the Bools let him go - and it wasn't solely because of their record.

They want Billy Donovan from OKC...he might leave the Thunder for UCLA.
Mayor is a good back-up plan. Earl Watson and the Nevada coach are also mentioned.

Nevada coach. I have a couple of friends who are Nevada Alums, they are confident that he is headed to LA
Re: Fred fired from bulls
My ISU "booster" pal says Fred is actively pursuing the job.
For whatever it's worth.

Not going to be LA. Can't see the family man wanting to come out here.
Re: Fred fired from bulls
LA is a career-oriented city, not a family one. I hope for his sake he resists the temptation. I doubt his family would enjoy it. Iowa and Chicago are very different environments and much more family friendly.
