Would we prefer Tulsa or Des Moines?

Probably be a better KU crowd in DSM as it's an easier drive from KC. Only issue is if the ISU fans refuse to sell tix to KU fans. Pretty much a wash, though.

We should root for DSM only in that we won't have to get off of I-35 (save for the trip from Lawrence to KC) all the way to MSP. DSM->KC->MSP

So Detroit Mercy upsets Virginia so we won't have to see them.
Ville.
NC State and rematch with Marquette in DC.

I don’t like our 2.
When it's all said and done, I think UK plays in Louisville as a 1 or 2.
If KU wins league, they are pretty much guaranteed to play in KC as a 2 or 3. I would love a chance to play close to home (especially this year). Being shipped out West wouldn't be the worst thing in the world as that has been the upset extraordinaire region from time to time.

Tulsa is a dump. Des Moines for sure.

Of course I'm biased - I live in Des Moines! We have a good venue for the tournament and we filled the place 3 years ago when the sub-regional was here last time.

But the tickets will be a very hard and very expensive get if ISU gets assigned here. That didn't happen the other time as ISU was the "host" team for that event. This time the host is Drake so ISU could easily get sent here. And so could the Iowa Hawkeyes for that matter. If both of them are here then tickets prices will be up in the stratosphere on the secondary market.

Bracketology is meaningless this far out blah blah blah . . .

Lunardi's bracket today has us as a 3 seed to Carolina's 2 seed in Kansas City.

I think Roy might actually die from blowing a gasket in anger if that were to happen. It would be absolutely glorious to hear that reaction.

Though I fear KC, I don't fear UNC.
That would be fun.

Ya, but what a genius Lunardi is for turning that into a job!

For as bad as KU has played at times and this is undoubtedly a "down year" for KU basketball, there is not a team outside of Duke that I don't think KU can beat. Just lookin at the top 2 seeds in all brackets..

Tennessee. Already beat them.
Kentucky. Up at half on the road. Not a good second half.
Gonzaga. Don't know much, always solid but KU can beat them.
Virginia. Tournament Virginia is a lot different than regular season Virginia.
Michigan State. Beat them pretty soundly. Double Digit lead until late in game.
UNC. Can get hot from deep. But Self has had Roy's number.
Michigan. Don't know much about them. But like Self compared to Beilien in coaching situations.

Not one of those 7 teams is unbeatable. I think KU could get to Elite 8 with a favorable draw.

As much as I hate to say this because Virginia's style sucks, but I think they'd handle us.
We can have issues scoring - we'd get 50 against em.
Zags would shoot us out of the gym.

4 in the East, opening v Hofstra, in Hartford, which is just under a 3 hour drive from Long Island.

Palm also has KU as a 4 out east. But playing in San Jose first weekend.

KU needs to get to finals to get 3 seed. A close loss to Tech in semis might get a 3 seed, but 4 seed looking more and more likely.

I can muster exactly zero excitement for the tournament this week, and for Selection Sunday and beyond. Hopefully that'll change.
