Illy responded for himself.

But thanks for another failed attempt at humor. Your persistence is admirable. Execution and content lacking as usual though.

We should have a three page back and forth attacking other posters. That would be fun for everyone.

Or we could just leave this be and move along.

You do realize that you can simply not use or read this politics thread, right?

O'course, I say that, and then I get the damn thing back on track.

There is no question at all that Jerry Brown has been patient and restrained with his spending. Good for him. He's a nut, but a pragmatic nut.

There is also no question that California's budget surplus is a byproduct of its unique economy, and its next deficits (which are looming) will be as well. As the WSJ quotes Moonbeam hisownbadself: “I lived a charmed life because I’m governor at the time of the longest bull market in history,” Mr. Brown said in an interview. “What happens after me? I assume there is going to be a lot of borrowing.” During a budget presentation earlier this year, he said, “The next governor is going to be on the cliff.”

This is the reason why we passed a "rainy day fund" by initiative (which is quite well funded) to smooth out the effect of extreme swings of bull and bear markets on the State budget. I am sure a bear market is coming, but I think we are better prepared than otherwise. Jerry Brown has definitely been a great influence on pragmatic fiscal policy in California. Can't say the same thing about those who did not backstop their policies (looking at you Brownback - wonder how that "Tax cuts will create an economic boom" approach turned out)

If Brown is such a great governor, why didn't they rake the forests?

but what in the actual eff? How do so many people who hardly even post on the politics board get so upset about the politics board?

If one thinks it's so bad, why not just ignore it?

and doesn't it seem silly to say "I quit posting about basketball or other sports or smack talk or satellite coordinates because of the politics board?!

with all due respect, if one is really so upset by the politics board, then maybe the issue is not the politics board itself, but perhaps one's own internal issue with getting too worked up about politics in the first place?
ousdahl, we'll thank you not to talk about politics or politicians on the politics forum.

Legally, no 😀.

I think he’s a little too outspoken in his elderly years.
