Back out west?! Without hitting me up to fish?!?!

Cuz that’s the only thing that woulda been more important than the boards, and it’s a moot point cuz if we had fished we woulda live blogged it on the great outdoors thread anyway.

And wtf more important than dotnet - you mean like KCrim?

Genome study finds roots of Komodo dragon's tenaciousness

Scientists have mapped the genome of the Komodo dragon, the world’s largest lizard, discovering intriguing secrets behind the impressive speed and endurance these cold-blooded predators muster by ratcheting up their metabolism to mammal-like levels.

...“Reptiles are kind of like a playground for evolution. There is so much diversity in size and form and behavior and their physiology,” Bruneau added.

...The team sequenced the genome using blood samples of two Komodo dragons housed at Zoo Atlanta, named Slasher and Rinca.

The researchers discovered genetic adaptations involving the function of the mitochondria, the power generators of cells that are critical in governing the function of cardiac and other muscles, that may amplify the lizard’s aerobic capacity.

As cold-blooded creatures, reptiles typically lack in aerobic capacity, rapidly becoming exhausted after physical exertions, unlike warm-blooded mammals. Komodo dragons, an exception among reptiles, can achieve near-mammalian metabolism.

Federal regulators issued a warning Monday urging people not to drink a chlorine dioxide solution that is often promoted online as a remedy for autism, HIV/AIDS, cancer and other conditions.

The products — known as Miracle Mineral Solution, MMS and Chlorine Dioxide Protocol among other monikers — have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and can have life-threatening side effects, the department said in a news release.

“Ingesting these products is the same as drinking bleach,” said FDA acting Commissioner Ned Sharpless, according to the release. “Consumers should not use these products, and parents should not give these products to their children for any reason.”

This is not the first time the department has issued such warnings.

Remember when 85 told us all to drink salt and keep our acids neutral so we wouldn’t get cancer?

Funny you mention 85, because I was thinking earlier today that lobster is beginning to remind me of 85, but without the sex appeal, or intellect.

I mean Merica/the Western Hemisphere is among the only cultures that don’t eat bugs.

Insects are some of the most efficient and sustainable sources of protein around.
