Eh, to be fair, he had his guess in pretty early before the line was set.

I've been top 10 the last 2 years, but this year I am horrible. This team is so hard to get a grip on.

If I remember right, kenpom predicts the scores well before the game.
It's a smart strategy but it's not as impressive as sdoyel thinks it is.
The thing that is more impressive is kenpom and Vegas's consistency.

My observation has been that Vegas uses KenPom's predictions as the starting point for their betting lines and then moves them from there based on the betting activity. KenPom's predictions are set at the beginning of the season and adjusted as results come in but they don't really change a whole lot. If you pay him, you can see predictions for the entire season for every team right now. I've paid but I don't post his stuff until right before or right after game time because I don't want to give people free use of something I had to pay for. If you want it you can pay too, it's only $20 a year! It hasn't helped me with my predictions this year. I won it twice in a row a few years ago but I'm hopelessly far behind already this year.

Does Vegas use kenpom or do they have their own model that runs predictions? Vegas has been around a lot longer than kenpom, right?
