Minsky's is great. Full disclosure I am also not the type that orders margherita or artisans pizzas. Good pizza shouldn't be difficult.

Not sure if this belongs in the fried chicken thread or not but a few weeks ago a buddy of mine had a gift card from his mother to Stroud's so we all went along. It was awful. Some of the most un-aspiring, bland and dry chicken I have ever had. Now granted the last time I went to Stroud's I was probably 10 but the best part of the meal was the cinnamon sticky buns for desert. After that meal it is a surprise they still have any locations open.

It's been a long time since I've been to Stroud's. I always got the chicken fried steak there, or the gizzards.

Sad to hear that. The Stroud's on 83rd underneath the viaduct used to be pretty good.

I liked Minsky's a lot when I first moved to KC, but I guess I had it too much, because after a while I didn't care for their crust anymore. I like really thin crust pizza.

We've done Stroud's before on this board, but: any Stroud's restaurant that is still standing is equivalent to someone going to Uno Pizzeria & Grill and thinking it is the same food as the original Pizzeria Uno.

It is now Sysco food and shuttering locations.

I'm not sure I've ever heard anything specifically negative about Minsky's?

I think it's very good, among its type. If you're wanting Il Lazzarone or something, ok you don't want Minsky's. Fine.

Anyone catch the Kansas City episode of Bourdain's No Reservations? Howard Hanna of The Reiger asks, "What if Stroud's served good chicken?"

I feel like this is a common conversation:

A. "I like Minsky's."

B. "Minsky's is OK, overrated and overpriced, you know what is better?"

I agree, though, in how do you compare Il Lazzarone, Minsky's, and Caddyshack against one another?

I certainly agree that Minsky's is shockingly expensive for what it is. But it's good, the beer list is strong, the garlic cheese bread is best-in-class, there's lots of TVs, and games for the kids.

I'm good with a bit of a premium.

He did. With some band called The Black Keys. Woodyard has pretty good ribs.

Haddad has killed Plaza III for good, auctioning everything off. Winstead's chain is next--only Plaza one hangs on. He'll wrongly blame it all on COVID-19.

Still, a couple of pillars fell.

In other news, streetcar extension. While you will really only see the best benefits in a future phase that puts light rail out in at least three directions, it's a start. And useful to me, personally!

That'll be sad if all the Winstead's close.
I liked going to the one across the street from the Nelson.
