They were also #1 overall...so I'd say pretty far from irrelevant.

The loss wasn't irrelevant. But Virginia kind of is in my mind.

Minus the hardcores, most have a very short memory. Go out into the street and ask 10 people who won the mens college basketball championship last season. 8 of 10 will get it wrong. Then ask them who was the first 1 seed to lose to a 16. 8 out 10 will get it wrong.

Most just don't care.

Go ask 10 people about the federal corruption trial. You'll get 10 blank stares.

3 acc titles in the last 5 years, and been a top 5 seed every one of them. Is not irrelevant.

Oh. And Ralph Sampson.

There are a number of relevant teams that are outside of the top 5.

I need to educate myself in terms of the parameters that are actually used in BPI because all the analysis involved might not be worth a brain in someone with a clue's head.
B.P.I. = Basketball Prediction Ignorance?

Northwestern 73% chance? No.
Let me let people in on a little secret.
FADE Northwestern having a 73% chance of making the tournament.
We are talking a team that has made the tournament what.... Once in their history?
The one thing they have going for them is the conference isn't all that good but NU shouldn't be better than half the other teams and most reputable sources don't even have them in the top 3/4 of the teams in the conference.
They were 15-17 last season and 6-12 in conference.
They lost their best player and possibly their 2nd best player and didn't really replace them with anyone unless you consider Larry Nance's kid something special. He was a generous 4 star but is obviously an unknown as far as competing on the college level. As he himself said, "I need to work on everything really. Shooting, ballhandling, and I've probably got to get a little bit stronger."
I hope I am wrong and they do make the tournament but if they do, I'll give someone on here $94 to their $6 that NU doesn't make the Final Four. Unless the Northwestern kids are the 2019 version of the 2108 Loyola of Chicago team - it's not going to happen.

Kansas will not play Silvio De Sousa in a game this season and will still go on to win the national title. The Jayhawks will finish 36-4, win the Big 12 for a 15th straight season and do this while uncomfortably being attached to the ongoing fallout from the Justice Department's findings. Dedric Lawson will be Kansas' best player all season long -- but freshman Quentin Grimes will be the Final Four MOP on his way to being a lottery pick.

Probably a good thing for us honestly. We have a bunch of guys who have never played with a target on their back like they've got now that they're at KU.

All that matter is getting a 1 seed, and we should easily accomplish that because the big 12 is awful this year.

I don't think the big12 being awful increases our chances of getting a 1 seed.

I've heard 'the big 12 is awful' thing before and then the big 12 still ends up being a top 3 conference.

Didn't watch the game.

Help me out, what did Duke do in the Army game that the didn't deserve to move up to #1 after the Kentucky game? Their free throw shooting and/or their turnovers? Or that they only won by 22 instead of the 28 points Kenpom predicted they would win by?

Maybe KU is > Duke but I have no problem being what "they" feel is the 2nd best team in the country on November 12th.

Top 3 is closer to worst than Top 1 and 2 are.
