the 2012 team convinced me that depth is grossly overrated.

The 19 team shows me that the point of depth is to deal with injury, the ncaa, and players taking leaves of absence.
For the most part, you need depth to win a conference championship. Depth becomes pretty useless in a 6 game tournament spread out over 3 weekends, though. Maybe that makes the 2012 regular season title even more impressive than the tournament run--I could buy it. Of course, when MU is the only other contender, you already have an edge.

With Withey in tournament form, the 2012 big 3 was better than the 2019 big 3. The top 5 on 2012 is also probably better than 2019's top 5, but that would be different if Azubuike and De Sousa were available. 2019 has better depth. 2019 probably has the better NBAers.

TRob did not foul (figuratively) in the 2012 season. That was by design and very fortunate because we had a short bench of bigs.

This team. Doke playing we got this easy. Silva plays we got this. Vick plays like a senior who has played 3 years and progressed nicely we good. We playing with nobody who played last year...there is something to be said about experience. Especially on the road. That Wva road loss was the difference.
