Regarding that surplus at that position, and also regarding your comment about lack of likable personalities last season, man I’m kinda surprised how quickly I forgot Vick was on that team.

So what's the consensus...do we want Grimes back? Considering the Hampton news - I do, despite his disappointing season, I believe he would make improvements and positive impact (provided he gets the "Kansas system is my problem" out of his head).

Before the combine, I would have said "absolutely we want him back if no Hampton."

Now, if all the media leaks from his camp are true, it just seems like an awkward fit, at best. As we've seen, letting guys back on the team that don't see eye-to-eye with Coach can be disastrous.

I wouldn't paint Grimes with Vick's brush. That's a bit much.

Well true, but I'd like to go into a season without hearing about things like "conditions," or really any kind of friction.

I guess I don't see it as being acrimonious - it sure seems like Grimes' camp and our staff (Bill) were simply misaligned on how things would go. I don't have any reason to believe that, if Grimes chose to come back, there'd be anything in the way of probation or mistrust. That will have washed out.

Because it's true that the Grimes Bill fell in love with is in there somewhere.

Well we have rumors out there that he's considering a transfer or even G-League. And, of course, he's about to make a huge mistake by leaving the program and try for the league. It doesn't sound great.

I don't disagree, but I see this more as a guy being pulled a lot of different directions by a lot of different people, rather than a fundamentally troubled kid. I think if he chooses this direction, it will be because he's found the right path and the right relationship with Bill.

Fool me once . . .

Nah, I do agree it's a much different scenario. It just also feels a lot different w/ Grimes now than it did a month ago.

So we're pretty set on starting lineup.
PG: Dotson
G: Garrett
G: Agbaji
PF: SDS
C: Dok

DMac will definitely play. Mitch a bit too. Guards off the bench? Umm... No depth there.

I'm not convinced that's a top 10 team. No guard depth, no shooting. Who knows, maybe Braun or McBride will be ready?

This team will be elite defensively and from an athleticism standpoint. That in itself will makeup for guard depth and poor outside shooting. Lots of dunks. Lots.

I'm high on Braun and you could plug him in at either guard spot in a backup role. He and Och are probably the best shooters of the 10 we have now.

But, I think there's a name that we don't know of yet that will be added.

Agree. Self is going to land someone late.

If Doyel is optimistic, then I will be too.

So we'll be kind of like the 2012 team, but a little deeper?

Dotson is going to have a Mason/Graham effect more this year than last. He will likely play 40 minutes in every game within 15 points after January. He'll be at the one, obviously. Garrett and Agbaji at the 2/3 with Braun and Tristan off the bench. Four bigs are already established. That's 9 deep right there. And a pretty good 9. It's hard to imagine McBride being less effective than Moore was in the event Dotson needs a breather or has foul trouble.

I've seen Kyree Walker's name has a possible addition a few places and then this footer who's looking to reclassify. I'm not a big fan of adding the footer to a team that needs shooting and I doubt a kid reclassifying is looking to come in and redshirt behind Dok and Mack.

I'm ready to roll with
Dotson - McBride
Agbaji - Braun
Garrett - Tristan
Silvio - Lightfoot
Doke - McCormack

Walker would be gravy.

Going into the season with 2, maybe 3, open schollies isn't the worst thing.

And that's with forgetting all about possibly landing Wilson.

We are deep, but that's assuming none of our guys get hurt. I'm most excited about having 4 quality bigs. Gotta keep them all uninjured.

I think the thing I'm most excited about is that it doesn't look like any players will have eligibility issues. None of the recruits were high enough to be on Adidas's radar, lol.
