Still, Christians were not celebrating Christchurch. You'd think Muslims would realize what was almost lost.

If you want to be Islamophobic do it on the poli-bored.
Because a few people do something does not mean you can paint an entire people.
I would guess you'd argue the reverse if a presented a situation where a few Christians acted tastelessly.

That cesspool is there for a reason -- for you to sound off.

The thing I remember about visiting Notre Dame is that there was a pedestrian kind of area nearby with children playing, inline skaters moving through a row of plastic cones and a general feeling of community to the scene. Made one remember that the great cathedrals were a part of a local community when they were being built by hundreds and thousands of workers over the years, not just the monumental places of veneration that we now see.

Perhaps we could just be grateful that it's one tragic scene we've been treated to on our TVs that didn't involve lots of deaths/injuries.

There was a choir there when I visited.
Sat in the pews and listened.
A lot of people stepping up to pay for it to be rebuilt which is good to hear.

I very much enjoyed the three rose windows and had fun checking out all the gargoyles. I am so glad the rose windows were saved. I remember having a profound appreciation of the architecture, especially considering when the cathedral was built.

Good point.

The reconstruction efforts in Paris will be fascinating to follow.
An article on CNN attempts a start on the process.

How many children have been molested in Notre Dame?

so $1 billion raised for restoration efforts?

For a property owned by one of the wealthiest institutions in the world?

That could be enough to clean the entire pacific garbage patch.

And meanwhile, in Puerto Rico...

Those other causes are very worthy causes. But the folks didn't raise money for those causes.

If you do not believe in this particular cause, don't give. Stay on the sidelines for this one.

If you really think about it - it wouldn't be so wrong to believe there are literally a billion or more deserving things/people of other's money than the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral.
Oh well. Just gives people one more thing to bitch about. People like to bitch. It's their God given right and they often abuse it. Myself included.

Yeah NewtonHawk, either get your ass out there on I-35 and head North or stop your bitchin' because heaven forbid we live in a country that takes responsibility for supplying safe water for its citizens to drink, because rich people need a tax cut, and

#governmentbad!
