According to the committee, moving the 3-point line back would clear the lane for more drives to the rim, make the 3-point line more challenging and therefore less prevalent, and improve offensive spacing.

uh, no

It might deter some teams from shooting as many, it's possible.
I still think others will live and die by the 3 - but they'll have less success living by it.

The average team shot around 18 3 pointers in 2008.
Now the average team shoots around 23.
Nova 18 shot 29 a game. Auburn 19 30 a game.

Since 2000, the total 3-pointers taken by college teams has increased 66.7 percent, the NCAA says. And no team has made more than Belmont. The Bruins have drained 5,449 3-pointers since 2000, an average of 9.5 made per game. That adds up to 37.2 percent of all Belmont’s points.

For comparison, the average Division I team hits 6.5 3-pointers per game for a total of 28 percent of its points, the NCAA says. Of the 316 teams, Gonzaga is the most accurate. Since 2000, Gonzaga has shot 38.2 percent from the line, compared to the average of 34.7 percent.

Of all Division I teams, however, none has been more low key about the 3-point shot than Texas Tech. Since 2000, the team has shot 8,700 3-pointers (the average is 10,171), scoring just 22 percent of its points from deep shots.

Any rule that favors an inert unathletic guy who stands around and chucks shots when the defense collapses on the talented players should be changed. That was my forte, avoiding defense and lobbing long shots. And I acknowledge that it wasn't the "beautiful game."

The 3 point shot is a gimmick that has completely changed the strategy and dare I say integrity of the game. I wonder how Naismith would have felt about it.
Might as well have changed free throws too. If you choose to take them at the top of the key and make them they will count as 2 points. How about dunks? They only count as a half a point.

Get rid of the shot clock to further purify the game.

Exactly. That North Carolina 4 corners offense was an exciting development for the game.

The shot clock basically shut down a flaw in the rules which made basketball indoor 3D soccer. But plenty of folks seem to watch soccer. The rule could have been adding a player to defense if a team doesn’t shoot within a minute, etc. I think the NBA is too chaotic. NCAA is about right.

I wonder if either of their 2019 recruits will be back on the market, after this?

He's considered one of the elite offensive tacticians and teachers in basketball, a coach who has never been an assistant and climbed almost every level of basketball -- coaching high school, junior college, Division III, II and I. The final step in an odyssey that's brought him an 829-468 college record has been the NBA, and now Beilein makes the leap. Beilein is 66 pretty much now or never.
