i might visit the state once more in my life, just so the wife can see the redwoods, Yosemite, and the Pacific coast
no desire to ever live there, so much so that i’ve turned down job offers

Redwoods and Yosemite are awesome. Beyond that, same, 0 desire to really be there ever again.

California seems to restrict bad choices pretty well. They have a better quality of life than red states, Fewer people taking dead guys to ATMs.

I never said I agree with any of that either, quite the opposite in fact. It's possible to oppose both, and I do.

Having said that, I think it’s a pretty stupid law to take on. Driving 35 mph in a 25 mph zone is a lot more dangerous than driving 75 mph in a 65 mph zone. So, the car has to actively monitor current speed limits? Also, driving 65 mph in a 65 mph zone when it’s raining heavily is more dangerous than exceeding the speed limit by 10 mph!
Every state has its share of stupid laws introduced. Faux News just happens to pick on California and ignores the lawmakers in red states on days that end in a y.

I think you misunderstood my post. I’m agreeing with you that this particular initiative is misguided. My only quibble is with characterizing stupid laws as uniquely Californian.
