Apparently not?
Her actual doping case has not been ruled on yet. The problem is that she should have been suspended pending the investigation. The bigger problem is that all of these individual countries have their own Anti-Doping Agencies and they all have different protocols and policies. Here is a story about a US athlete who is the student of a friend of mine:

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/ ... e/2758889/

She failed a drug test because of what turned out to be an additive in a cosmetic face cream that she used and was immediately suspended, missing World Championships and several other international events. Not a banned substance directly tied to performance enhancement like this Russian skater. An organic face cream.

If these athletes are expected to behave under the same sets of rules regarding what they can and cannot take then there should be one policy with a uniform set of procedures and punishments. Otherwise you will continue to have Russia make a mockery of it by simply lying like they always do. They dope all of their athletes and any who speak out against it are immediately discarded. When your entire lives are paid for by the Russian Olympic Federation once you're in the system, that is no small fate.

Aaron (my buddy's son) making news in China both on and off the halfpipe.

Imagine that, an American proudly representing his country being silenced by an American company while he's in China. What have WE become as a country? China?

While fantastic that he finished in 1st place in qualifying.....
It's a whole new ballgame on Saturday. Wishing him the best of luck!

The science is always going to be ahead of the rules on doping, etc.

I have watched more of these games than I thought I would. Halfpipe skiing yesterday. Seems like a horrible idea, but knock yourselves out (literally).

even the halfpipe snowboarding too

seeing those kids (literally) collide with the edge is cringe-worthy

i do enjoy slopestyle though…skiing or snowboarding. this course in particular seemed to be quite unique in the way it was designed

Yeah, but halfpipe snowboard is so fun to watch, haha.

And, idk, just looks less awkward than skis as far as disaster potential?

She'll be run out of the sport in her country within 2 years. Too bad they still won the gold and silver with doped athletes.

You should probably talk to your buddy then, he'd probably be surprised about it, given that it's false.

and this is probably the most tragic thing, and almost seems unique to female russian skaters. they’re already talking about the next…a 14 year-old that was literally praying that the games would be postponed so she could compete at age 15, rather than 17-18

completely disposable

Because these kids are scared of being on the hormone suppressing drugs for too long they are forced to take.

My guess is his father Michael (my buddy) was probably as confused about it as most people seem/ed to be.
I'm also guessing he and Aaron have discussed it but I'm not so sure I would get a verbatim recap of their discussion if I were to ask Michael.

It's a mystery to me and somewhat fishy because it was a news source out of China that claimed Aaron actually said he was suspended from Twitter. Not sure why he would say/claim it if it wasn't true but I have seen no proof of it one way or the other.

Regardless, he said a few things in that presser that were controversial but nothing that I would think any USA government agency would go to Twitter and demand they ban/suspend his account.

FUCK! Started the 3rd run great and then Aaron crashed and got injured.
3 Olympic appearances and 3 7th place finishes.
Aaron's Grandmother lives in the same building as my mother - and they had a viewing party.
Had I known earlier, I would have gone and hung out with the old people. Glad I didn't.

how is the Seine River less polluted now than it was 100 years ago?

(Paris is going to hold competitions there; they didn’t the last time the Olympics were there because of pollution)

when you modify definitions, all things are possible
