To quote Doyel, that spread: bizarre.
Duke gets a bump bc no one bets on a college team more than duke, but are they really getting an MSG home court bump?

Which coordinator are we going to fire if we loose?

Crowd will be 75% anti-dook.

Well, it's not so much a bump based on the relative quality of the teams, right? It's pure profiteering off of Duke homerism, right?

They brought about 1/3rd or more of the fans last time it was there.
Obviously, this is more about what I said with them getting a bump because they get bet on so much, but it seems to me the neutral spread should be KU -2. What is Vegas accounting for to get the extra 4.5 points?

folks not doing their scouting. It actually epitomizes the majority of Duke fans, really. "I like dook because dook."
speaking of scouting, where's the know yer phoe? Aren't they projected to start a bunch of underclassmen?

The fans' willingness to eat the points.

Dook is usually really good in November.
When K simplified his offense to make it amenable to the OAD it made his teams (generally) a little more ahead in November than other teams.
We also have a lot of unknowns for a team with returning players. Dok, DeSousa, and Mac are all returnees, but either have been hurt, suspended, or haven't played much.
Dotson we know what we're getting, and maybe to a certain extent Garrett, otherwise they're newcomers in the backcourt...and maybe vegas is projecting them more negatively than the polls or other predictive metrics.
Also, maybe the injuries to Moss and Dotson?

2 straight over dook in November and 3 straight overall.
2-1 all time vs. dook in November--that damn Maui game with the Ty and T-Rob team when we weren't very good yet.

They're the only team with a winning record all time in the champions classic.
They have 4 blue chip freshmen and we have none and we're in an era that obsesses over freshmen.
I'm playing devil's advocate here. If I were a gambler, I'd take KU and the points.

They're projected to start Tre Jones, a sophomore pg, and O'Connell? A junior who averaged 4 ppg.
Then it's a bunch of freshmen:
Vernon Carey, a big center; Matthew Hurt, a tyler looking stretch forward; and Cassius Stanley, a 4 star shooting guard.
I guess those freshman are "blue chip," but not sure any of those dudes are projected to have any kind of Zion-RJ type freshman impact, either.

It's already down to -1 on DraftKings.
I have to say, looking at who they return, I'm buying this KU blowout prediction.

Other than the homers on the KU chat boards, who is trying to sell a KU blowout?

I was able to get KU +1.5 just now. Market in flux. At the same time I made my bet another casino had it as a pick em game.

We should win this game. This ain't the same team Duke had last year.

True, but I would argue they lost a lot more than we did.

That’s kind of his point. They lost a ton. We lost our worst players outside of Dedric and replaced them with better guys. And yes, I’m counting Udoka and SDS as replacements from last years team.
