If he does that during a game he’s gonna be benched.

Hopefully this kid is another diamond in the rough, and ends up being a great player for us.

I do think he has that potential. He could also turn into a Anrio Adams and not do anything, but he's a good athlete that could be a nice player in a 4 guard offense with plenty of spacing on the floor.

Seems odd to pursue a 3-star like that. I assume Self sees potential for better development. Otherwise, seems like WSU-caliber talent.

Have to fill roster spots amid all of the postseason sanction uncertainty.

Yeah, this recruiting cycle has a bit of a “bird in the hand” feel to it

Yeah, 2020 feels like a punt in terms of recruiting outside of Thompson who will have the ball in his hands often. And it's because there is a likely one year ban coming up.

But Self is recruiting developmental guys that will be ready in 2021 and beyond.

How many stars did Frank have when he signed...asking for a friend.

Good point there..

Pretty sure he was not ranked when Kansas got him. Then when he signed/committed his rating went up and became a 3 star.

Exactly why I qualified my observation by noting that Self may see something that the rest of us don't. He has a history of doing just that.

The star ratings are mostly designed to give cover for the NBA draft. I trust Self to coach-up all athletic non-head cases. For every LeBron, there are 10000 Grimes. High ceiling and good Basketball IQ. And an occasional ready made selfless star like Manning.

I just think Bill is taking a flyer on a athletic kid who actually wants to come to KU despite everything that's going on.

I like it. put a shirt on him next year. next season we have Bryce Thompson along with dajuan harris and marcus garrett to play point. then we have a 4 year explosive guard. guy wants to be at kansas and could be a great program player. if bill likes him i like him

Im always annoyed how underwhelmed people on this board are when we sign a guy who isnt a 5 star guard. same people complained about frank mason and devonte graham when we got him and missed on some 5 star one and done

who would you rather have. frank mason or josiah turner?

Well it’s also annoying to compare every low 4* and 3* recruit to Frank and Devonte.

Most of our recruits in that range don’t turn out to be great players. There’s a much higher likelihood that those kind of players transfer. We have a long list of those guys that have transferred.

There’s only one Frank and one Devonte.

This.

Plus, I hate the ‘if Bill likes him, I like him’ attitude

Bill liked CJ Giles

One of the bigger disappointments in the Self era was having Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid, Wayne Selden, Frank Mason and Perry Ellis all on the same team and we trotted Naadir fucking Tharpe out there as a starter every single night.

Yeah, Tharpe has to be my least favorite KU player in some time. And it’s not really his fault. Self is the one who kept playing him every night.
