It’s also mine except last minute found out the wood stove can’t be used.

There’s a bunch of oil lamps all over the cabin so if we loose power, well, we can still see.

But if the power stays on I got a seven day trial of a 99 dollar a month FuboTV plan that has CBSSN so I’ll join y’all tomorrow.
So, you're going to stay up and watch the game even tho it doesn't start until 10:30?

good fan

I've little doubt I'll see the first half live, but not nearly as sure about finishing the 2nd half.

Our internet went out up here after a brief power outage. It hasn’t been fixed. I’m guessing it happens often here with all the trees.

I hope the phone data will be fast enough to stream whatever app I downloaded up here in the woods close to Canada.

Where are you?

Having lived the last 43 years, if I knew in 1980 the next 43 years would be the 43 years they were for me, I probably would choose to be tapped in 1980.
Some very very homey cabin in Rangeley.

I have heard (from my sister) Rangeley is beautiful.
Enjoy!

I spent a week in Akumal, Mexico in 1993 on my honeymoon, and loved it. A sleepy, quiet little town. Always planned to but never made it back. I'm under the impression it has changed...a lot.

This is a nearly impossible thing to list, so many options.

I might go something like, in no order

North Fork Idaho
Lolo Montana
Joseph Oregon
Virginia City Montana
Ouray or Paonia or Green Mtn Falls Colorado

Maybe Salmon Idaho, Stanley, Riggins Lochtsa
Red Lodge Montana, Darby, Hamilton, dillon, anywhere in the Kootenai (minus libby), anywhere by seeley lake

My favorite international small town is probably Engelberg Switzerland.

There are so many unnamed in this list its really unfair. That's just kind of my corner of the world top of the head spots.

Depends on what qualifies as small town too, Cody Wyoming is pretty awesome but it's not that small anymore.

yea, what qualifies as a small town?

I'm pretty sure Forks, WA counts.

tho to be fair, I dunno if it's a favorite small town, or just a broke ass small town surrounded by favorite wildlands and waters.

Why Forks and not La Push, or Neah Bay or Quinault?

Haven’t been.

Or, if I have, it was just passing thru.

I’ve spent considerable time in Forks - enough so to know every restaurant there sucks, and there’s not even a good dive bar even though everyone there is drunk.

actually, correction:

the breakfast joint is good.

everything else there sucks tho.

Mexican: sucks
drive-thru burger joint: sucks
Chinese: awful
the pizza and that sit-down burger joint are at least serviceable, but they're west of downtown so you have to drive there, and can't just walk there from the Forks motel after shotgunning Rainiers in the room, so that makes the pizza and sit-down burgers suck too.

but the breakfast joint is good. Open early, like every breakfast joint should be. Good strong hot black fresh coffee. Good gravy, the gravy is good. Plus that charming mix of fishing and lumberjack decor that every good breakfast joint should have.

plus my fishing buddy swiped the waitress there on tinder so I ended up having to wingman over some chicken fried steak, but that's for another thread.

Know what we haven’t had in a while?

An official thread!

We may or may not get one this weekend…stay tuned!

This place could use it too. I been thinking let’s all take a deep breath and get back to the fundamental meat-and-potatoes content that made the glory days of message boreding so great:

Caps lock.

Poor grammar.

And live blogging my love life.

And now that I think about it, the glory days weren’t about just my own love life.

It was about the love lives of any poster rad enough to live blog it.

Reddit.
Tik Tok vids.

So love life blogs here, now, are just a bunch of olds making alfredo for each other.

We can talk about times of old here though.

Once, in South Padre, in a massive hotel resort complex, after beginning relations with a woman in her room, I sobered up, and decided no, but couldn't find all my clothing before she came out of the shower, so I ran mostly commando back to my room in a completely different neighboring hotel.

There were some gentlemen in the open air hall who immediately understood and shouted, 'run boy run' as I made my way back to safety. I think fondly of them and their emotional support to this day.
