I'm sorry to hear about your mother, 99. I hope she gets well soon.

MICHHAWK wrote: Fri Mar 24, 2023 12:34 pm culvers is very good. everything on the menu is good.
When watching my granddaughters includes a meal, the one standing rule I have is that we're not going to Culver's, again, their favorite place!

It's been years, so I guess maybe I'll have to try it again.

Imagine all the points I'm going to score!

Why is that your standing rule?

Don’t like Culver’s, or just don’t want to take them to a place they know they will like?

Freddy's is also a very good burger (again, on the charred edges thing).

Didn't care for the food.

The 8 y/o is going to order a grilled cheese sandwich no matter where we go, anyway.

And, eating is one of life's potentially pleasant experiences that you can exert a good deal of control over, so I make an effort to avoid wasting the opportunity.

Braum's makes and delivers everything fresh. Won't open a store outside of a 300 mile radius from Tuttle, Oklahoma where the home farm is. Bill's favorite burger too.

Burger, fries and a shake is a must. Just great.

Turns out there's a Freddy's here, so I'll check it out sometime.

My sister is a farmer just west of OKC. They sell their potatoes to Braum's.

Whataburger for dinner last night about 8:30 or so.
Place was hoppin, inside and drive through.

It looked like it was the 1st shift for about 4 newbies. They couldn't figure out how to take my order but all seemed nice and enthusiastic. One of the noobs delivered the food and the burger and rings were on one side of the tray. Dude put the empty side of the try on the table and before I could reach it, it flipped everything on the floor. No biggie, off to remake with an apology. Dude was nervous.

Got the double with onion rings and an unsweet tea. Half the price and better than burger fi. I didn't care for the onion rings but they were hot out of the fryer the second time I got them.

Nothing mind blowing but I'd go back.

I order grilled cheese in many places and I’m close to 60! Of course some of it borne out of necessity because menu choices are limited for a vegetarian. I’m not a huge fan of the fake meat - not too fond of the texture (having never knowingly eaten meat).

I also customize to maximize the experience. My go to bread is rye or sourdough in that order. I also try to get Swiss, fontina or pepper jack. Finally, I add tomato, onions and sauerkraut, if they have it. Sometimes also add jalapeños. Baby steps for the granddaughter. Expand her world.
