My kid worked at Pot Belly in college. I've never had it. Any good?

Worked there in HS and I agree. They were really good in the early to mid 2000s. Then about 2010 or so, they began sucking. Other places are so much better. Firehouse, Jersey Mikes, Which Wich and even Quiznos are all far superior to Subway.

Yes, it's fine. It's in the Which Wich class.

I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of Subway, but can still appreciate it in some sense, as the only fast food option that makes some effort to not just be a precooked grease bomb of a meal.

I think of it this way: if I’m on the road or something and come through a town and see a subway, that means at least I don’t have to eat at McDonald’s.

Agreed. I think Jimmy Johns is really, really bad and bland.

I liked Jimmy Johns when I first moved to Lawrence, and I think they first opened in Lawrence?

Their sammiches were all like $2.75 apiece, and they seemed to have some market position as these cheap stripped down sammiches.

Turns out, they weren’t trying to position as cheap, but as fast. Then, they kept getting more and more expensive, even though they weren’t making any improvements to quality. Now it’s like $6.95 or some shit for the same stripped down sammich.

Also, this is tangential, but my homie worked at one and they made him sign a non-compete. Over sammiches. LOL

I've eaten Jimmy Johns multiple times, I think.
I don't remember much - except mostly shredded lettuce, mayo and airy bread.

Footlong - the sandwich is also paid for and you can pick any footlong sandwich on their menu.

I’m surprised phd would even suggest a 6 inch, considering how strong he feels about dividing various other food portions...

We need to remember, he is a micro biologist, so a footlong sub is the size of an apartment complex.
It would take him decades to finish.
Fortunately, none of it would go bad.

This. I am just not that picky about an on-the-road sandwich. Sometimes I just need a quick, filling meal. Not very many sandwich places that I wouldn't eat at.

The meatball marinara sub isn't bad, really. Because it's hot, and frightfully unhealthy.

I'd do meatball marinara: pepperjack, jalapenos, oregano, black olives, red onions, heavy on the sauce and black pepper.

1,400 calories or something.
