Grandma's Horse Won the Kentucky Derby!

Post by Deleted User 289 »

Horse I own a minuscule part of was the winner.
It was a great race - for me. Very exciting.
Perfect run by both the horse and the jockey.
Sad thing is in hindsight I bet stupid. Put Tiz the Law on top in my trifecta and superfecta bets.
All I had to do is switch and put my horse on top and I would have won a shitload of money.
Trifecta paid $1300+ (on a $1 bet) and the superfecta paid $7,925.80 (on a dollar bet).

It was fun. Only one person I know who is/was not happy for me.
I talked a co-worker OUT of betting on the horse. She was going to bet $20 to win on it.

Grandma doesn't have a horse running in the Derby this year but how about this "breaking news"?
Complete fuck job for those who have wagered early and now can't cancel their bets. Yes, if they can't cancel their bets they get their money back AFTER THE RACE on a simple win, place, and show bet but if they bet the horse in a gimmick it completely screws them.
P.S. I cancelled my "gimmick" wagers.

If I am not mistaken there have now been 5 scratches. Scratch meaning the horse was entered in the race but will not be running.

Had the winner to place and show, had the place horse to place and show, and had the show horse to show.
Still lost money on the race. Oh well, at least I ate well. Or at least ate what made me happy.

I've been there. Well, not as a female trainer. As an owner. That was pretty much me during the 2020 Derby and the 2020 Breeder's Cup Classic.

Side note, my Uncle's horse (Wiseman's Ferry) ran in the Belmont in 2002. Was great for the first 3/4 of a mile. Lost by a whole bunch.
