When one of your opponent has insane ideas, the best thing you can do is shine a light on them to make sure everyone knows how crazy they are. The more of a spotlight there is on just how ridiculous some of the people and ideas being put forth by the looniest end of the GOP spectrum, the better.
Cry me a river.

Republicans pick their voters by gerrymandering districts into oblivion in order to disenfranchise people they know won't vote for them, like Blacks and Brown people. They also constantly change the location and reduce the number and availability of polling places and drop boxes to suppress votes and make people who aren't likely to vote for them wait in line for hours in order to keep people from exercising their constitutional right to vote.

Democrats trying to pick their opponents doesn't rob anyone of their vote.

No one is, ah, forcing these MAGA clowns to take the money. If they are getting tricked by dark money PACs, well, take it up with the Chief Justice.

No kidding. Few politicians would go through this level of in-depth investigation and come out as cleanly. Add in the most thoroughly researched and analyzed election in US history and Biden is about as vetted as it gets.

Justice Dept. Investigated Clinton Foundation Until Trump’s Final Days

President Donald J. Trump and his allies tried to cast the Clinton Foundation as corrupt. But the yearslong investigation sputtered to its conclusion without charges.

The Justice Department kept open the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s family foundation for nearly all of President Donald J. Trump’s administration, with prosecutors closing the case without charges just days before he left office.

Newly released documents and interviews with former department officials show that the investigation stretched long past when F.B.I. agents and prosecutors knew it was a dead end. The conclusion of the case, which centered on the Clinton Foundation’s dealings with foreign donors when Mrs. Clinton served as secretary of state under President Barack Obama, has not previously been reported.

Mr. Trump, who campaigned on a promise to “lock her up,” spent much of his four-year term pressuring the F.B.I. and the Justice Department to target political rivals. After being accused by the president’s allies of serving as part of a deep-state cabal working against him, F.B.I. officials insisted that the department acknowledge in writing that there was no case to bring.

This morning, President Joe Biden signed into law the $95 billion national security supplemental bill providing military aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific, as well as humanitarian aid to Gaza and other peoples suffering humanitarian crises. The Pentagon immediately sent about a billion dollars worth of ammunition, air defense munitions, and artillery rounds, as well as weapons and armored vehicles to Ukraine. The U.S. Department of Defense had moved supplies into Poland and Germany in hopes that the measure would pass; they should move into Ukraine soon.

[...]

Counselor to the president Steve Ricchetti, a key negotiator, told Saenz: “He just kept saying, ‘Keep talking. Keep working.’ You know, keep finding ways to resolve differences. And that was his direction.”

Biden’s focus on the slow, steady work of governance is a change from the actions of Republican leaders since 1981 whose goal was not to build up successful programs that helped Americans in general, but rather to slash the government. Killing programs requires only saying no to other people’s ideas and riling up voters to endorse that anti-government program by flame-throwing on right-wing media.

Over the years, it seems we have become accustomed to the idea that flame-throwing defines politics, but in fact, Biden’s reliance on slow, careful negotiation harks back to the eras when leaders sought to build coalitions and find common ground in order to pass legislation.

North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) acknowledged the power of Biden’s approach today when it endorsed Biden for president in 2024. The union’s president, Sean McGarvey, noted that Trump had promised to protect pensions and to pass infrastructure laws that would help employment in the building trades, but did neither. In contrast, Biden worked to pass the American Rescue Plan, which protected pensions, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Chips and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which McGarvey said “have brought life-changing, opportunity-creating, generational change focused on the working men and women of this great country who have for far too long been clamoring for a leader to finally keep their word.”

Thanks for linking that. Heather sees things in ways I often don't appreciate.

I think this confirms he's a socialist:

That ability was one of the reasons I am OK voting for him. He has a pretty good record of working across the aisle and seeking out compromises for the better of our nation.

Someone please help me to understand how this is a good thing for ME if I were to retire in the next couple of years and how it's a good thing for HIM if he is trying to get re-elected.
Thanks in advance.

I fucking love this country.

Biden administration is reversing course on its plan to ban menthol cigarettes, after the White House weighed the potential public-health benefits of banning minty smokes against the political risk of angering Black voters in an election year....

Remember when lobster posted that photoshop of “Corn Pop and Trixie,” which was Biden and Harris loitering outside a convenience store, with Harris in a skimpy dress and Biden in, iirc, a Newport Cigs jumpsuit?

But Democrats are not entitled to Black political support. Today, Biden’s support among Black voters in seven swing states has dropped in comparison to the last election cycle. According to a Wall Street Journal poll, 57 percent of Black men plan to support Biden, compared to 30 percent who said they will vote for Trump. This shift would be a catastrophe for Biden. Four years ago, 87 percent of Black men voted for Biden.

In the same survey, 77 percent of Black women are planning to vote for Biden, while 11 percent plan on voting for Trump. In 2020, 93 percent of Black women voted for Biden, and he just barely won by the skin of his teeth in a handful of states.

Black voters have historically supported the Democratic Party for about six decades. But they are increasingly questioning the dubious return on their political investment. They were the ones who rescued Biden’s struggling presidential campaign in the 2020 primaries. Even so, they haven’t seen a payoff.
