Well, it's not funny. Just found out form a perfect source that he's a legitimate candidate who is interested and is being considered.
Perhaps I shouldn't have used the words "legitimate candidate" and "being considered" because frankly I am not Girod nor am I on the committee so that part is/was hearsay.
What's 100% NOT hearsay is that Danny is interested. I'm a bit surprised too.

It's now public news.

This is an impossibly sad situation to grasp, all because we had a meanie coach in 2009 when KU was 5-0, ranked, and was about to play at Colorado.

Then said coach ended up losing seven games in a row, got in a pissing match with Big Lew and may or may not have abused some players. It wasnt like Mangino was completely innocent here.

If Banks is the AD and Kevin Kane is the coach, I will feel very old and wonder why I did not choose D-1 linebacker instead of this.

Banks has already proven he can raise money as he raised about 9 figures of money just to help pay off all the football coaches.

If it's about raising money, how can you not hire the guy named Banks?

What role can Nick Reid play? Gabe Toomey?

I love D-Man as much as the next person but him as an AD is TERRIFYING.

How is it not obvious?

You want money? Gabe Toomey will scare the shit out of you enough to get you to pay whatever he wants. Dude was a psycho.

Side note. In all honestly, I love that Wayne Simien is a part of the board to hire the AD.

Why not Mangino? He knows the culture. He is only 64. Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin is 74. Mangino can hire a coach and would know enough to stay out of Self’s way. Make Banks the AD in waiting.

Why not lobby for the job himself?

Still a pretty tight-knit family guy. That's a demanding job. Think he enjoys family life, while still having a major role within the athletic department.
