i actually considered the possibility myself recently, though i don’t think one would be accepted to do basically the same thing (but maybe that math field is more diverse than i think)

Having done in a PhD and post-doc in a totally experimental discipline I don't have the urge to go back to grad school. Until a few years ago I was still spending part of my time in the lab, and in a way I was doing basically what I was doing during PhD and post-doc but getting paid much better and don't have the pressure of writing thesis and grants. Of course, the trade-off is clinical trial timelines and FDA filings!!
