The story has probably been discussed elsewhere but I didn't see it.
I assume similar things happen in other programs but this is yet another BAD look for KU Football.

Forced out, yet signed a document that funneled him money? This is a very one-sided picture being painted.

The more I hear about the Miles and Long tenure the better off that program was with all of them leaving. They did a lot of good but there was a cost.

As far as this article goes it is very explosive, puzzling and rather odd but without hearing the other side this does come off as one sided, slander and click bait.

The real question is who are the four defensive players and are they still on the team???

According to Bryson Stricker 3 for sure are not on the team.

What a bizarre thing. And apparently to others, there were more instances of this happening. And this and another were at fullback, which happened to be Les’ son’s position.

Long and Miles are POS beings. Absolutely atrocious. College Athletics are always going to be shady, tricky and full of bullshit. But this seems to be at an entirely different level.

This is lacking information but looks bad. It couldn't come out 6 months ago, a year ago? Why now? I hope it get out of the news cycle quickly.

Yeah, thinking about it more. Why didn't they bring this to the public's attention when Miles and Long were getting 'released'?

Lots of questioning of the article on Twitter.

Seems on there that the general consensus is that a family of wealth is pissed about something and wants to clear their name of something.

Something probably did happen, but it’s an odd article, at an odd time, with an odd player.

This is a really good thread outlining a lot of holes/missing links in this story. Sounds like Jesse Newell had a really dramatic story he wanted to tell but we never get the whole thing.

Yeah. Really why I am saying it’s bizarre.

Allegations of racism. Allegations of death threats. Allegations of players selling drugs.

Where is the actual evidence to any of this?

Agreed. No one's saying this side of story doesn't stink. It does. Long and Miles are gone and I'd bet this had something to do with it, we just didn't know about it until now. But there are serious things raised by Newell that never get resolved. A lot of gaps to fill in before this reporting gets a ton of praise.

The main concern I take from this is that the compliance director was on the search committee to hire Liepold.

But that could also be pointed to as a good thing. Maybe he thought that the way it was handled was wrong and he wants to make sure it isn't handled in the same manner in the future. That is my hope.

Could he be lead out as a scapegoat? Yes. Just don't want this mess. I want the team/AD/coaching staff to get a chance without any lingering issues from Long.

Someone who names their kid after the Governor of their state?
