NBA 2021/2022
NBA 2021/2022
Zion broke his foot and had surgery in the offseason.
Booker has covid and will miss the start of training camp.
Wiggins and Kyrie aren't going to be able to play in their home games (and some road games).
Embiid says he wants Simmons to stay in Philly.
Going to be an interesting season.

Re: NBA 2021/2022
Joel is playing this so smartly.
Re: NBA 2021/2022
He is doing what a teammate and professional should do...but i also think to some extent he probably wants Simmons to stay at this point. I don't think Joel is just giving lip service to the media, and I imagine the perceived rift between them is overblown in the media. Trading him will result in an immediate and significant downgrade and Joel knows it (and so do the 76ers and that's why they haven't moved him yet). If they can repair the relationship, even if only temporarily, it'll be best for all parties involved. They're still multiple pieces away from having the ability to win a championship imo (even with Simmons). The Tobias Harris move wasn't worth it (at least not yet) and that's hurt them. Horford didn't work out. They've made some poor choices in recent years.

Re: NBA 2021/2022
Signing Simmons to a max being the poorest by a longshot.
Re: NBA 2021/2022
I disagree, but totally subjective. Look at the guys getting max contracts. Simmons was deserving. He's one of the best defenders in the league. He's still only 25. 2020 steals leader. 2020 3rd team all NBA. 3x all star. 2x all NBA defense 1st team. Those are crazy good credentials for a 25 year old.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 7:48 pmSigning Simmons to a max being the poorest by a longshot.

And now he's not trade-able and neither side wants the other. His 5 playoff points and million dollars per game will be in California while Embiid makes another case for MVP.
Re: NBA 2021/2022
Some worthwhile comments from 76ers players in there about the Simmons situation and how they feel about him.

Re: NBA 2021/2022
I would have loved to have paid to go to the Nets / Lakers game so I could see Durant, Harden, Irving, Griffin, Mills, Johnson, Harris, LeBron, Melo, Russ, and Ariza not play.
The crazy thing is the players I mentioned who didn't play would probably win 80 games in an 82 game season. If healthy, (that's a HUGE if) I don't see how the Nets and Lakers don't meet in the Finals.

"Eighteen former NBA players have been indicted on charges that they allegedly defrauded a health care plan of millions of dollars that served current and former players, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday.
Manhattan federal prosecutors allege in the indictment that the 18 former NBA players and one of their family members took part in a "widespread scheme to defraud" the NBA's health plan by submitting nearly $4 million in "false and fraudulent" claims to be reimbursed for medical and dental services that had not actually been given.
The people charged in the indictment received about $2.5 million in fraudulent proceeds, prosecutors said in the indictment. "
Here's my favorite one, talk about a moron..."One former NBA player, Strauss said, submitted a bill for $48,000 claiming he had IV sedation and root canals and crowns on eight teeth on December 20, 2018 at an office in Beverly Hills, California. But Strauss said, on that date, travel records and even "publicly available box scores" show the man was actually playing professional basketball in Taiwan. "

I think there is a small chance that it could be (Tyler) Self.
