2022 NonCon

Sept 3 Tennessee Tech
Sept 17 @ Houston (WTF?)
Sept 24 Duke

Can someone please tell me we are opening the vault to get out of that Houston roadie?

We have two dates to play with, the 10th and 17th, to find someone that won't give us a good shellacking.

Houston comes to Lawrence in 2023 I believe so it would take a good chunk of change to get out of both games of that series.

I would expect Sept. 10 to end up being our Big 12 opener vs. Baylor. For some reason the last couple years the conference has fallen in love with putting the KU vs. Baylor game in the second or third week of the schedule so I'm guessing that's what that gap is there for.

Said the same thing this year. Need to buy out all road non conference games until we have a 3 win season.

You would think Houston and KU would, at minimum, talk about getting out of the 2023 game considering the new conference affiliation.

Just curious - Houston may be a conference member by then, how might that affect things?

And yes, I know that football is scheduled years and years in advance so it's unlikely we'll find someone with an open date anyway. Just a rotten scenario a rebuilding program.

Maybe there is a loophole to get out of those games cheap and easy with Houston joining the Big 12 at some point, good point.

Yeah would think that gets canceled. Or has Houston coming to KU in 2022 and 2023 canceled.

I'm just glad they're playing a below average FCS team instead of some stupid FCS school in the Midwest. Go play Tennessee Techs, Gramblings and Eastern Kentuckys of the world. Stop playing freaking MoValley FCS teams. That's the best FCS conference.

Exactly. The FCS game should be one where your non-starters can rotate in for some game experience. If they get called on during the remainder of the schedule they will have at least have been on the field once.

The obvious thing, here, is that our pool is quite a bit more limited when 1/3 to 1/2 of the FCS programs can absolutely come in and beat us.

Wake and UNC just played an odd non-conference game...I'm sure Houston and KU could do the same, given the Big XII adjusts the conference games accordingly.

I just find it hilarious we tried to get out. Houston said no, because they wanted an easy home opener and we went there and just plain dominated them.

I wanted out of it because it was Houston outdoors
