I would add Casey as Sophomore because I think he gets a scholarship now unless Leipold has some dark streak we haven't heard about. A core of a team now, appreciate the chart.

I agree and will update as soon as that is confirmed. Can't really imagine a scenario where Casey doesn't get a scholarship.

With a roster so loaded with underclassmen, the 2022 recruiting class is sure to be small so I don't see any way Casey wouldn't get put on scholarship at this point. Not sure how many scholarships they will use to bring back super seniors. A couple DTs like Lee and Sampson would be nice.

The interesting thing about the potential Super Seniors is that it gives you 8 Defensive Lineman and 1 Linebacker. I think the DL in particular would benefit the most from an age standpoint. Some of those dudes might be 24 years old. That could be a nice thing to have.

Plus, I'm sure we'll lose several players to the portal and fill those spots with recruits.

Schedule is interesting.

Tennessee Tech - Finally a cupcake FCS.. Their best record in like the last 5 years or so is 5-6.
@ Houston - They're pretty good. Holgerson is a hack tho.
Duke - Will have a new coach. KU with the most frustrating game against them. Up at half. Extend it to up 6 in 3rd quarter. Then Duke scored 24 straight.

Home conference games
TCU - New coach.
Texas - They'll be fired up.
Iowa State - Potential new coach? Losing a ton of seniors
Okie State - The class of the conference as it stands today.

Away conference games
kstate - Gap seems to be narrowing a bit. Not much though.
OU - New coach
Tech - New coach
West Va - They'll be pretty good.
Baylor - Does Aranda stay? He's got a good thing going there. Like Aranda a lot.

The schedule next season isn't great. Would have been nice to have 5 home conference games.

Also do not like having both Duke and @ Houston on the schedule. We need to play 7 home games every year until we start winning 6+ games every year.

Damn near impossible with new rules that basically all P5 have.

All play a P5 team. And the chances of getting to have 3 home non-con games every year diminishes. What KU needs to do is find a lower end FCS team. A lower G5 school like New Mexico and then hope that your P5 opponent is on a low ceiling path.

Some tough non-con opponents coming up.

Kwahn Drake leaving KU. Think his contract expired.

Think they’ll get a definite technical guy in there. Drake was great at hype, always a bit behind on the technique aspect, it seemed.

Again you think of KU football as it has existed under the past five coaches. But really from a perspective of just normal football who the hell on that list are you scared of? It's like you guys want to play South Dakota's and we win and you say hey were awesome. That isn't going to work.

Underrated position of need: Punter.

Vernon stunk this year.

Taiwo Onatolu will move from senior analyst to D-line coach.

Jordan Peterson will move from senior analyst to DB coach.

Loved the energy and passion that Drake brought on the sidelines. Not surprised based on the technical aspects though.

The Chevis move was more surprising. Secondary was one of the stronger links on a very poor defense and seemed like he could recruit. I wonder where that puts us with Prunty coming back?

Peterson is really good. Glad he stuck it out. Had to have been mutually decided upon to have 2 guys like that as analysts. Really good position coaches.

Newton, I think what you said above here is true. Drake and Jackson were on expiring contracts. They likely knew they weren't coming back after this year anyway. That makes it easy for Peterson and Onatolu to take on those analyst roles for a year knowing they were getting promoted at the end of the season.

They were on expiring contracts and were by all accounts stop gap guys. Both guys played their roles well and certainly thank them for all of the hard work they put in for this program!

In the case of Drake it sounds like KU may be moving to a four man front compared to the three that Drake was used to?

The real question is what about Emmett?

Duke - W 35-30

TCU - W 27-21

Away conference games
kstate - L 30-17

I don't think Emmett lasts another couple of years. Not sure on his contract details, but I would imagine he is likely gone after this year unless McGuire hires him back to Tech this offseason based on their relationships of being HS coaches in Texas and playing against each other. Wouldn't be shocked if that happens.
