Joe Rogan

Post by ousdahl »

Anyone a fan?

He’s got one of the most popular podcasts around right?

I’m not super familiar, but think I dig the open ended premise of the show.

I also seem to hear a lot of bros cite The Joe Rogan Experience as credible info on all sorts of covid and other stuff, often as if it’s it some insider scoop the mainstream media don’t want you to know.

Then just saw this too:

Per usual, i'm split here.
I think he's not as crazy as i'm sure some posters ( and I know who they are ) will immediately chime in and say he is - and he gets some ( some ) very legitimate and knowledgable guests on his show.

He also has some illegitimate ( meaning spewing conspiracy theory ) and moronic guests on his show.

He's a risk taker, doesn't give a shit what the mainstream thinks, and I think that's why he is off putting ( off-pudding ) for many.

I used to listen occasionally because he had real good guests. I quit listening long before Covid and his misinformation campaign.

Got sick of him and his bullshit interviews. He'd have some world renowned Evolutionary biologists on and then he'd be asking him what dietary supplements he takes, asking why he doesn't take hallucinagens, talking about MMA for 15 minutes, then tell the specialist a cool story about Bonobos fucking, not letting the expert get a word in, and then make the guy feel like a fat looser for not working out with kettle bells and taking nootropics. All while the guy tried to steer the conversation back to evolution, or whatever.

The show would be great if it had a different host.

He’s just a shock jock right?

Just another entertainer trying to be edgy for more clicks.

There’s a lot of “BuT FiRsT AmEnDmEnT!” Comments defending him, as if the first amendment lets you yell fire in a crowded theater too.

And the sentiment that “If you get your medical advice from some roided out podcast dood you deserve what’s coming,” as if public policy is meant to be spiteful.

Yes.
And all over the political spectrum.

Rogan was ok at the beginning.

But he recognized soon that the real money was going to be made preaching to the adults who still have soft spots in their heads

Haven’t we been over this tho?

Misinformation being a much bigger problem on one side of the spectrum.

In the context of the pandemic, particularly.

What would the Qusdahl equivalent of Joe Rogan be?

But Rogan isn't strictly a rightie.

He's a big advocate for legalizing drugs. He also, at least used to be interested in universal basic income. He also was into free borders...probably other shit too.

So, the Qusdahl equivalent of Joe Rogan might be Jow Rogan.

And he's had Bernie sanders on if I'm not mistaken.

Well, in the context of the pandemic, is there any Qusdahl type out there who is peddling misinformation to a mass audience that ends up having such a detrimental effect on the nation’s health?

Or heck, beyond the pandemic. What radical leftist out there is both getting that many clicks, but getting that many clicks cuz they’re selling misinformation about anything, with a tangible negative effect on some bigger level?

Rogan is about as centrist, overall, as you can get. Some really far left views, but also some far right ones. I like listening to him because he interviews people across the spectrum and explores their areas of expertise. I don't always agree with him or them, but I come away learning something.

So, your main issue is that they make money off of it?
