Beat two no. 1 seeds in March Madness.
Crushed Kenpom to the moon.
what was this team's biggest win of the season?

all things considered it's the heels for the natty. But the heels were an 8 seed, and dinged up at that.

By the numbers, our best victory was prob Villanova? At a 2 seed, and dinged up at that.

This season's team didn't exactly have to best a bunch of other elite teams like we did in 08...not that I'm complaining!

Several of these posters haven't received an A in a class since Shapes.
I loved when a college professor announced that an A+ was a possibility in their class. Not a ton did. Challenge issued and accepted. I just wish that an A+ would have counted more towards your GPA than an A did.
It's supposed to.
All A's was a 4.0.

All A+'s was a 4.0.

Just a reminder that the 2008 team played exactly three regular season game against a ranked team and only beat one of them.

Rankings are at the time of the game: #24 USC (win), #11 Texas (lost) and #24 Kansas State (lost).

Yes, I remember that they had to beat two #1 seeds in the Final Four.

All A's was a 4.0.

All A+'s was a 4.0.
That sucks. At least in grad school, A+ was 4.33.

Wife teaches at KU B School and they can't give higher than an A, 4.0. But at KU undergrad, A+'s, if available, are 4.33.

Sure.
2008.
3 looses? Two of them on the road to ranked teams? Two of those looses by one possession?

Won B12. Won B12 tournament, convincingly, against the 2nd best team.

Probably a 98.
Depends on whether GM Bill is factored into the grading. Because the '08 team played to its talent level. This one overclocked at the end. I think you can justify this team being graded higher than '08, despite some objective deficiencies.

'08 road was easy until the Final Four and a lot of cupcakes in the regular season.

Eh. In hindsight, we had to get through an upper-tier NBA HoFer to even get to the Final Four.

Meh, if I had a nickel for every great player we've beat under Self. I'll always take a double digit seed in E8.

I think Bill's nerves was the way bigger barrier.

I also think hindsight will be way kinder to 2022 UNC. Their road was the opposite of ours and have to be the favorite for the 2023 title.

There's great players, and there's greats.

I don't have time right this second, but it would be fun to build out a tier listing of guys Bill has beat here. I think Curry and Durant (ordered alphabetically!) are clearly in their own tier at the top.

The next tier has guys like Blake Griffin (borderline HoF?).

The next tier has guys like LaMarcus Aldridge.

The next tier has guys like...PJ Tucker?

The next tier has guys like...Tyler Hansbrough? Or are the college try-hard all-stars their own Honorable Mention category?

This season's best caliber wins were Baylor, then Texas Tech, then Villanova, then Carolina, who finished 16th in Kenpom. That 8 seed they got was not representative of their abilities at the time we played them.

But yes, 2008's tourney run was more difficult from a rankings perspective than this year's. I don't care at all.

yea, all seeding aside, E8 against an all time goat is a tougher row to hoe than E8 against Charlie Moore.

tho I forgot that 08 team only played 3 ranked teams all regular season.

but still, that 08 team had the look and feel, and billing, of a contender all year. They only lost 3 times all season, and never lost by more than single digits. They were blowing out opponents on the reg, with average margin of victory +19 (vs +11 this year). After returning everybody (but Julian, but adding Cole) from that stacked 07 roster that made the E8, they were just asspounding thru the regular season waiting to make that title run. While this season finished the regular season looking like a mediocre 2-2 against a bunch of Texas teams, 08 finished the regular season by giving Texas teams the meat necklace.

here's the offseason silly fanboy hypo for you guys:

which roster would win a best of 7? I'd say 08 in 5?

with the big difference being, Darrell/Darnell/Sasha/Cole would be just too much for Dave and Mitch. Sherron vs. Remy would be quite the bench duel, though.

Wasn't 08 something crazy too, like never ranked #1 during the season, but also never outside the Top 5?

Depends on when you rank them. I would not have 2008 Curry in the top tier--thought 2009 Curry was the better player when he played PG. And then he got noticeably better after going to the league.

Durant, Beasley, Griffin and the tournament version of Rose are up there for me. Hansbrough's accolades are hard to argue against.

Wish I could put AD on there.

Eh, but then he falls off the tier ladder and misses 10 weeks.
