Wordle: starting words *spoilers*

Post by DrPepper »

1. GLORY
the only key to this is the Y in the last position. The other letters aren’t super common. This is my self-handicapping start.

2. STEAM
S in the first position is important as it is a super common place for S. All the other letters are super common letters.

3. WINCH
Just more common letters that I have not used yet. CH at the end may be helpful.

So those are my starting 3 words. Note that I have used all the vowels except U. So if I feel like the word needs another vowel (and it is not a duplicate vowel), then it could be U.

What word do you start with?

I use RADIO quite a bit.

When playing QUORDLE, I almost always use ADIEU.

Since I know I’m going to guess several times, I feel like the vowels are going to come up anyway. So no need to rush them in.

I want to get the Wordle in one guess one day so I guess something different and not one of the common starters that people are using ( because they purposely won't choose those ).
That is definitely deterring me from getting it in two.

For QUORDLE, I almost always start OCEAN and GUILT. Got 3-4-5-6 yesterday!

I think the day I started Wordle, I lost and there was a Y in the word. I didn’t like getting burned with the stupid Y. So now my first word (GLORY) has a Y in it. I wonder how many would have gotten FOYER had they known the Y.

Same could be said for leading with, like, JAZZY though. If you don't guess JAZZY, you'll never solve JAZZY.

I have read strategies that claim vowels are easier to guess than consonants so it's better to have a consonant heave starter word. I donno. I have stayed with my first starter work and sometimes it's good and sometimes it ain't.
I use STORY, cuz it was the 1st 5 letter word I though of.
Defense. Rebounds.

Hmm, the anti-vowel QUORDLE openers would maybe be...MERCH and SLANT?

Free rent is the only rent you don't complain about, so there's that.

JAZZY
GLORY, STEAM, WINCH would identify
OCEAN 5 of 5 letters
SMART 5 of 5
DAILY 4 of 5
BAUDY 2 of 5 and I would not even think of this as a common word
HAPPY 3 of 5
JAZZY 2 of 5

I suspect only baudy and jazzy would trip me up. But who knows as I still have 3 guesses after GLORY, STEAM, and WINCH to eliminate letters.

I use random words every day.

I got Flair in 2.....but only because my starting word was Chair....which Inused because I happened to be sitting in one at the time and thought I'd throw it out there.

I think it should be fun and not strictly formulaic means to an end. To each their own.
