If Kid Rock and Ted Nugent show up and bring their buddies from Westboro to march/parade down 112 to Broadway that would be the icing in the cake.

They will be in the marching band for our Solstice event. They are playing shows at casinos in North Dakota the weekend before the Crimson/Blue Fest and can't make it out again this summer.

We will set up a small memorial ofrenda for our pals Leawood and iowaboy both of whom passed away last year so they can enjoy the festivities in spirit. They would get a laugh outta that.

Wait, is Trad a yes for sure confirmed?

“And family” does that mean like dogs and stuff too?!

I should just commit, I know I know. Sorry I haven’t already. I’m still trying to figure out a job, maybe even a career, and with all that so up in the air, been worrying too much about that, and not enough about getting drunk and stoned off my ass in a potato field with my internet friends.

I also have some self-conscious instinct that I might annoy folks there who think I’m too RaDiCaLiZeD!!!, but honestly that’s at least somewhat mitigated by the fact DC will be there to corroborate Qusdahl. Lulz.

We’ve since hung out successfully and enjoyably, without it becoming a war-thread-caliber poop throwing contest, fwiw.

Again, I’d really very much like to be at this but probably not fair to BUD to leave her with a 2 year old while I watch basketball with my internet friends and foes.

If we are all alive and still posting, see you in 2025.

Bring the two-year old! Bring the partners and family and doggos. All you have to do is keep them out of the fire pit. It is peak time in Colorado for a vacation. And it won't be ALL basketball. We have the world's problems to solve. Just relax. Beautiful place, local guides, space if you need it.
I have never met anybody here in person.

The story is Kermit and my friend Dana were going from KC to a bluegrass festival in Durango about 30 years ago and stopped to camp in the San Luis Valley near Saguache. Maybe they had too much fun hanging out in the valley and skipped the festival and looked at piece of property in the mountains instead and bought a farmstead. Kermit and Dana have been out there off and on ever since.

Kermit eventually sold his half of the farm to Dana and bought the Frontier Drive In from my friend Sadie (may she rest in peace). Kermit then sold the Frontier to my friends in Denver the Falcones after Mark Falcone helped produce an experimental film by a director from Mexico City who made the whole film on the site of the Frontier. Kermit then bought a chunk of land with wells and crazy water rights and built this on it.

http://www.frontiertroutranch.com/about-the-ranch/

I think Sara is Kermit's sister.

Long story short Dana and Kermit have been preaching the beauty of the valley for the last 30 years to friends and family back in the midwest. Two of Dana's sons and a step daughter and a sister maybe now have houses in Saguache. Kermit has a couple of siblings maybe who are now there. In Saguache they are known was the KC Mafia because of the houses they have bought next to one another and more for less made compounds out of them. In a tiny town in the middle of nowhere with 300 inhabitants, if 15 people from out of State move into town in a matter of a few years people start to freak out. If you tell people in the valley you are from KC you will often get asked, "are you part of the KC Mafia?" We just say, "yes, so don't fuck with us."

When I was looking at property in the valley about 5 years ago an artist out there told me "there is another guy out here from KC, name is Dana something". "Wait Dana Gibson?" "Yeah that's him." I knew Dana from years back when he and Mel Malin were developing warehouse in downtown KC. I called Dana to ask wtf is up with the valley and we have been like long lost brothers reunited ever since. When the oracle known as Sadie Skeff offered me 20,000 sf of commercial buildings in Center for $5.75/sf because I had been sent by God to save her town the first person I called was Dana to ask "what am I missing here? This is fucking nuts." The first thing Dana asked was "have you closed yet?" I said "no, I need to figure out what the downside is here first." He said, "hang up the damn phone, sign the contract and close, we can figure that out later. I have been doing real estate deals for 30 years and never had anything fall into my lap like. Shut up and do it." He was right of course.

Oussie, you will remember Dana's ranch. it was where the big party in the foothills happened that everyone but us was a microdosing and when Defix truck broke down Gigi appeared out of the dust with the promise of power tools. Sarah may well have been in that group. There were a lot of cell phones with 913 area codes in attendance. Some of them will show up for Crimson/Blue Fest. Dana can smell a lit joint from 20 miles away. We might wanna hit up Kermit for some trout for the grill.

Dude, I took you to my secret trout stream. Your are family. I may try to slap some sense into you on occasion, but when we are in the valley it is time for fun and camaraderie. If DC can sit with us and watch him squirm on Tucker's muthafuckin slouchy bitch chair, then you can suck it up and drink a beer with us and we can laugh at ourselves as well.

And there is the "super moon", nothing like standing out there in the desert watching the super moon rise over the Sangres with a beer in hand.

Colorado Springs is a good place to fly in if your airport has reasonable connections thru Denver. Easy place to get a rental car and it is a beautiful 3 hour drive on Highway 50 thru Bighorn Canyon on the Arkansas. You can also fly into Albuquerque and that is about 4 hour drive through Georgia O'Keefe country to the Empire. You can fly directly to Alamosa but last I checked I don't think there are rental cars there any more so you have to take Little Stinkers Cab to Center. Really, that is the name of the only cab service in the San Luis Valley.

Yeah, thanks for showing me the trout stream. I’ve got some intel on some others yet. Let’s get some rio grande cutties, please.

But, I should prob just say so - slap some sense? Suck it up? The condescension kinda makes me hesitate.

Fair enough, if you decide to come to the fest or Solstice we can go look for a spot I have heard of called Agua Azul. There should be cutts there but might be more browns. There is also a spot near Capulin that has tiger trout. Never heard of them before, but saw some photos and I need to go see one in person.
