KC Road Trip for Negro Leagues Museum and BBQ

Post by twocoach »

Looking to do a day trip to KC with a buddy to go to the Negro League Baseball Museum and eat some BBQ. Will be hitting a dispensary somewhere along the route as well. I see that Arthur Bryant's is close to the museum but is it the best choice for a nearby BBQ spot or is there a better one we should hit? I've done burnt ends at Jack Stack and ZMans at Joe's. I don't want to drive all the way across town to get to a place so I'd really prefer it to be close to the NLBM. Just looking for recommendations.

That's Bryant's OG location.
That's a no brainer for me.
Go there.

Excellent, that is what I was hoping to hear. Now I just gotta pull some dates together that don't interfere with my watching of KU hoops games. Tourney time sure does gum up the planning of weekend activities.

LC's. Burnt ends and beans.
Probably won't have time in a single day but the WWI museum is pretty allsome.

I prefer Bryant's to LC's and I think that Bryant's is almost walkable to where he's going.

As far as KUBB, go during the Big 12 tournament if you can and scalp a ticket in.

To me LC's is way better than Bryant's and more consistent. But this is why they make chocolate and vanilla. Twocoach should try both and let us know what he thinks.

Bryant's is fine tho, especially if you've never been.

I agree with that. I...(whispers)...don't really like Bryant's.

What is wrong with you people?
Top 3 in KC imo.
Beats out Q39, Woodyard, Jack Stack and Gates.

LCs, Bryant’s and Joes for me.

Bryant's is great and close to the Negro League Museum. The Jazz Museum is next door to the Negro League if you want to do a two-fer. If you want something else for another meal try Grinders on 18th, it's less than a mile west of the museums. I like Grinders for thee Philly cheesesteak. Also Buffalo Pizza is a little bit further west on Wyandotte. For dispensaries try From The Earth near T-Mobile Center on McGee (Ghost OG is the shit). You will be in my neighborhood. I walk to most of those places from my office, except Bryant's, nobody walks to Bryant's. Give me a call if you wanna meet up for a beer.

dragging themselves through the whitewashed streets at dawn looking for a grievance fix.

Let me know if the jazz museum still has Parker's Grafton horn "loaned" out.

Great info, thank you. The Jazz Museum was on my radar as well, just depends on timing. Definitely interested if it fits into the trip. If our schedule works out, I may take you up on that beer.

And I'll move my upcoming convo on MO dispensaries to the Weed thread.

Not yet, tough to find open weekends as the ncaa tourney and my daughter's competitive dance season ramp up.

When you set a date, if you can give adequate notice, I'd love to join you, if that's okay . . .
