imagine some tiny shitty town, i dunno, lets call it fanhattan, has for the last 30 years had a st patty's day week, starting 7 days before st. patty's, where everyone dresses up, gets drunk and makes fools of themselves.
the pinnacle of this is on st pattys day itself where everyone goes to the public park and pisses in it. it's hilarious to most everyone in the town. sometimes they think it's so hilarious they do it on halloween too.
a new mayor comes along and the night of st patty's, hours after all the pissing in the park has happened, says, 'well that's disappointing. i think we're better than that. we should be taking pride in our town and not pissing on it.'
a citizen of fanhattan wakes up the next day, lets call him gurly, one of the rare citizens who doesn't like the st. patty's day pee, reads the paper and sees the new mayor's remarks.
"egad! he's done it! the piss is over now! finally, it's gone!"
